Been trying to update the game for the last few hours. The update keeps failing. The error keeps saying the patch requires 136 gb temporary storage, but my mac has around 164 gb free. Does anyone know how to deal with this error?

Did you ever figure this out? I'm getting the same thing with the latest patch. Wants 104 GB, I've got close to 150 free, won't proceed.
you need to unpack it on an internal drive not a usb ported one

Neither of us was using an external USB drive, so I don't understand the relevance of this reply?
GoG's patching system is pretty iffy. If it needs 104 GB of free space, I would DOUBLE it and see if that works.
You would be better off to just uninstall the game and do a full re-install.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I'm going to try an external USB drive and see if that works; I have to buy one first, though.
With Galaxy, you can choose different locations (and so different drivers) for the game, the downloaded patch and the temporary directory where it's uncompressed. That's the one advantage it has over Steam (unless they finally caught up with that).

I'm not sure about the offline updater, though. I'll try that soon.
External USB drive (!TB) and it immediately started the update. So it must've required more than it was claiming.

Hey! That's awesome you got it working.
In the past the update demanded 2+ TB free space for no good reason, so this is a huge improvement.
