I was going to purchase BG3 witht he Christmas Sale going on, along with a few other games.

To my surprise, the description page still showed the game as in development. That surprised me. Wasn't this "released" two years ago?

If so, when do they expect to actually finalize the game? I just can not justify spending that kind of money for something they are still working on. It's like buying a car with no wheels, doors, windows, hvac, or seats.

It's coming out August 2023.

The game is clearly marked as "in development", so I don't understand your surprise and your car analogy doesn't really make sense here.
Just move on and don't buy it until it is finished and released then.
I thought Q1 2023 for surely. I suppose this is a good thing Larian wanna put more time into it.

the current buggy state of patch 9 proves Larian was very optimistic about how 'on track' their game was

I too hope Larian fixes the game up. I'm enjoying some of the earlier Baldur's Gate games, and given the quality of the reviews Baldur's Gate 3 has so far I'd look forward to buying and playing it if Larian ever finishes the game and takes it out of early access.

I agree it's surprising its still in early access... thought it released a while ago.

Hope they didn't end development on it or something.

Development has definitely not ended. They release regular updates and hotfixes.

My heart went dwn once I learned Larian is developing this sequel.
Might sound harsh, but Larian should stick to their toilet humor games IMO.

I will watch carefully how this releases and the reviews. No way I am buying this in-development.

Good decision, I bought it like 2 years ago and actually did play it through on an earlier build but quit playing because I do not want to lose a character to an update. This will be the last Larian game I purchase.
Really no update for 1 Year on GoG ?.
Or i miss some ?
On stream version 4.11.215614 / 4.11.2154614 and here ? ......

the Gog build is the same as Steam... currently [on Windows PC] that is v4.1.1.2154614

the delay is how long it takes to get other builds so Mac, Gforce and Playstation users have to wait longer than Windows PC users by upto 2 months... Gog off line installs normally wait about 2 weeks because Gog makes those themselves and has learned to wait until PC users find most of the bad bugs in a Larian release before making their copy
