Partha: Are you guys seeing the patch 5 update using GOG Galaxy ? I prefer downloading the offline installer and the game is not updated to Patch 5 either as a patch update files or full offline installer. Offline installer is still stuck on Patch 4 hot Fix 3 :(.

mathaetaes: There's always a delay. They fix update the thing they have the most control over (and has the least chance of generating user complaints) first, then update the manual installer files.

Give it a beat. It'll come.
I really don't mind a little delay, but if it will not take hours but several days, I will not be very happy. Honestly - I don't get why they do not give a fully updated game as offline installer, and give the update a while later (yes a lot of people will not be happy with that too). As I read above that the update on GOG is this large, you have to download a big huge blob anyway, so it does not matter very much between that update or the full game in this case. Personally I have a fast connection, so downloading the whole game again would not be a problem for me, but that's only personal of course.

As I said earlier, I can only hope we don't have to wait for several days again before the offline installers become available. It will probably past the weekend before we see anything at all I am afraid. It's not fun to be a second class citizen on GOG but, sigh, it is what it is...

ussnorway: 3 the Gog galaxy patch is handled by Larian as is the Steam patch... the only real difference is the type of compression and thats mostly the type of servers used as Gog servers are less impressive
It would be really nice if we could just get a torrent ☺ — we paid for it, so it’s annoying that we can’t avoid putting unnecessary load on the GOG servers. On the technical side, shipping 100GiB to hundreds of thousands of people is pretty much solved — if the people are willing to walk an extra mile. The challenges are purely on the commercial side. And even that has been solved already (torrent-trackers with login).

Normally I wouldn’t mind a little delay, but I’m currently just hours before the finale and that’s where they had the biggest changes — and I would really like to get the real ending on my first playthrough ☺

(I update windows-games with lgogdownloader, not with gog-galaxy, because gog-galaxy fails in wine on Linux for me)

EDIT: and I take it all back. I used the wrong command for updating. 67.36GiB update is being pulled down. ← happy ☺

I updated my game 2 days ago after not playing since launch. Had to download ~102GB.

Now I have to download 102GB again. Why!? Is this the famous "fuck those guys at GoG, just let them download the entire game again for each patch" strategy?

Very nice Larian. Very nice....
the current build is 4.1.1.4061076 and that just now went live so check again if you want off line install
note this is for Windows only

Larian dropped this patch just in time for the weekend (as usual). That means GOG staff will likely wait till Monday to build an offline patch.

Uhm, no they don't? Offline Patch has been released some hours ago. But it's still 102BG big
So I downloaded the offline installers for PC, for both the full game and the patch

The full game is 115 gigs and requires 135.5 gig of free space.

The PATCH is 102 gigs and requires 1,574,969 MB (1.57 TB) (1,574 GiG) of free space.

(patch_baldurs_gate_3_Release_-_v4.1.1.3956130_-_Patch_Patch4_Hotfix3_(68995)_to_Release_-_v4.1.1.4061076_(693 62))

Good Luck.

I dont really get the complaints.

There seems to a necessity to play the latest version ... why ?

Sooner or later they'll release their final version and thats when getting that version will really be an issue to me. Before that point, they'll all be buggy and stuff.

Meanwhile I'll follow my strict policy of not changing the version until after I've finished my playthrough.

Everyone's PC builds are different and depending on that, some people can run into bugs that other people might not encounter and thus can not progress further within the game and would need to patch the game to continue.

If you are not encountering any bugs, you are free to continue playing without updating.
The patches are not limited to just bug fixes but also Quality of LIfe updates like the colour blindness settings, etc.

edit: With patch5 it also fixes a major performance bug tied to stealing stuff.

Oh lol, again? That's even better than Patch 4 demanding 944GB of free space. What are they doing with the installer exe there? (more or less rethoric question)

Yeah, I think last time someone pointed out you needed the free space on your c: drive and where the game is installed. I couldn't test it out since my c: drive is only 500 Gig.

Hey, were you able to patch the game on Galaxy? You had to re-scan several times to get it working.

1 you are correct that each patch should begin a new build
2 the main reasons we keep playing instead of waiting for Larian to finish the game is because this is Larian and their track record is to cut corners, i like them but if i don't keep playing the game i will not keep finding their mistakes and then they can't fix those

Why thank you then for making this game better. Even if I would prefer it if Larian could do this by themselves, but maybe they are just too small a company (I have honestly no clue how big they are).

Thank you from me, too!

Larian isn’t that small anymore, but the scope of BG3 is huge. Even when you just look at the plot and writing, it is huge. Many different characters, companion-decisions, other decisions, and so on, all intertwined to change the state of scenes, and they have to consider that all. When you see some plot hole or inconsistency, always keep the absolutely mindboggling number of different states in mind that such a story brings.
