I'm more than glad the upgraded PS4 version made its way to PC. I just noticed it and played through again only because this. However I can't pretend not seeing what happened with the game generally. Let me start with this Definitive Edition is no more than a PC port of the PS4 version and not an upgrade of the PC optimized release. It acts kinda strangely times to times, especially when it comes to the resolution and aspect ratio handling. Other than that there are random long loading times (despite it loads fast usually). The improved controls of PS4 also only works with controllers and the keyboard can not be adjusted to emulate it. The focused lock-on can't not be used in arranged mode with keyboard only control.

For me it is disappointing and I can't let it without a word.
Sorry for the double post. For first the browser doesn't wanted to send it and now it sent two times. One of these topics could be deleted.

I didn't notice this post, but I'll say it again: I wish they could just put up an "Original Astebreed" next to the "Astebreed Prototype" like some other games did here on gog.

The updated graphics are cool but if the price is a suboptimal port, I'd rather play the original instead.

(also sorry for talking about it here too ^^;)

No problem. Back then but actually even now I'm disappointed by the fact this version is only an emulation rather than a PC version. Since that there is a tool to at least adjust the controls and resolution, however it is fan made and not official.

Come to think of it, A LOT (90% ?) of shooters on gog are emulation ports of console games, especially the Raiden series and Caladrius Blaze.
The Raiden games are particularly guilty of bad porting, except for Raiden IV Overkill, that one seems to be the only one running fine (and Raiden V is not a port).

Most console original games are emulations everywhere sadly. Newer games tend to come from XBOX what have a similar system like what the PCs use so that can be confusing. Of course being an older game to start with the requirements low in general however comparing to PC original games those have way lower requirements. This is what I don't like. There is no excuse to do so, this is mere laziness at developer side.
