For those of you who have tried time upon time, reading around the forums, and trying to find a possible fix for the horrid framerate on modern systems, as I have been one of them, I finally went and installed a previous driver, as I have a 285gtx. Any driver prior to 2010, the one i'm using is 190.62, August 09' driver. And it has eliminated all issues i've had with framerate, as well as popups. I had the exact same problem going on with vtmr, and this fixed that as well. Hope it helps!
