Today's such an unlucky day for me. First my Broken Sword fails to install, and now I get this error while trying to install Arx. I downloaded this using GOG Downloader, running windows 7 64-bit, and ran it as administrator. Help please.

It looks like the installer might be broken. Did you let it complete the "checking file integrity" step? If the integrity check says it's bad you will need to download a new copy.

Thanks for replying. It got through the File Integrity stage just fine. I'll redownload it and try it out again.

Edit: Redownloaded with my browser downloader this time, gave the same error.

From the screenshot you supply it could only really be a corrupt download of the game, I think. Ensure you dont have any old copies of Arx or bits of Arx on your system before installing - delete old arx folders, that sort of thing. It might help.

Can only recommend try downloading again - if I were you I would open a support ticket with GoG support staff (but don't hold your breath, they're not the quickest these days. ;o)

Good luck!

I've redownloaded it 5 times, still gets the same error. I'll send a support ticket. Thanks for the advice.
