Apparently in October 2020 there will be a final release for this overhaul mod.

I have never played Arx Fatalis so I can't say much more.
It is based on Arx Libertatis overhaul mod, which itself got to version 1.2.2 I believe.

I wonder if I should wait for the Arx Insanity mod to be fnished or not... Whether it's worth it.
Or just run it with the AL 1.2.2 mod, which in itself seems like a cool addition to an already nice looking old RPG...

Arx Libertatis is basicaly just a way to play the game on modern systems without problems, since it's an open source implementation of the engine.

Latest snapshot of 1.2

Unzip and paste into the main game folder.

Arx Insanity will add new stuff (quests, mechanics), so I wouldn't recommend for a first playthrough.

Alrighty, thank you, Akachi.
Yes too many added quests might be too confusing for a first timer indeed.

Not only quests. The author will add stuff from Dishonored (albeit it's supposed to be optional) like the Outsider powers, and some level verticality.

I've played Arx a dozen times so I'll try it, but for your first playthrough vanilla (with AL) will be fine.
