Whenever I try running the unofficial patch it tells me, "This patch is for the English version of the game only." I tried looking around for a way to fix it, but I'm not finding anything. (Knowing me I'm overlooking the option to fix it.)

Is your version of Arcanum GOG version (or other english version. Don't remember if Arcanum had language options but if it does, use the english version.)? What OS are you running (Windows XP/Vista/7)? Where did you install the game (on Windows, you should always install games OUTSIDE program files folder for numerous reasons)? Did you happen to install some other patch before you installed UAP (Games from GOG are patched to latest official release so never try to install those over GOG version)?
It should be English. I installed it from some CDs that I bought a long time ago and it didn't give me any language settings when I installed it. I'm using Windows Vista. I installed it onto my D drive and I didn't install any other patches (at least that I know of).

Well that might be the problem then. From UAP readme:

"The patch requires a vanilla English version of the game, patched to 1.0.7.4 (the last official patch). Any modifications that weren't meant for the current version of the UAP will most likely cause problems. Thus, don't use any mods if you're not sure what you're doing."

So you need to install last unofficial patch. It's "arcanum_en_1074.exe".

And language is easy to check. Just run the game and check the language in game. Altought I don't see how you'd have different language version if you bought it in US.

I got that downloaded and installed. It worked just fine, but I'm still having the same problem. :\ Not sure what else I can do or just go without the unofficial patch, but I was really looking forward to playing with it.

When I checked, I didn't see a language option in game. I looked all over and doubt I over looked it...

Game is playable without UAP, I completed it couple of times back in the day before there even was UAP. Some quests may not work properly/need to be done in specific order to work and you may encounter number of other bugs. I didn't encounter game breaking bugs but there's certainly possible such exist as game is buggy with last official patch.

You are not the first to encounter the problem. It seems problem affects specific US Goty edition of the game as all others I found to have the problem mentioned it.

I do my self have disk version but never had any problems installing UAP over it. I'm still using Windows XP so that might be the reason. Maybe you could try running UAP in XP SP3 compatibility mode (right click uap -> properties -> compatibility).

Last thing you could try is getting 7-zip and using in to extract the files from UAP and moving them to your arcanum folder overwriting any existing files. If that does not work, I'm out of ideas beside getting GOG version.
