After installing the hi res patch I realized that I couldnt see anything the npc's said (huge problem). I would also occasionally get some diagonal lines after scrolling around (not a big deal). It turns out I had left the forced AA and AF on in my ATI control panel from Mass Effect 1/2. After turning these off (application settings) everything works wonderfully.
