Does anyone else find this frustrating? Is there a way to remap some keys?

I'm familiar with baldur's gate style games and I naturally want to hit the esc key to exit out of any inventory/character/spell/tech screen however arcanum doesn't seem to respond to that. I've googled and found a hotkey list, however, it doesn't make it very user friendly.

Also whenever I hold down the left alt key and click to initiate combat the game switches to desktop, freezes up, and in the end doesn't end up initiating combat.

Don't know about rebinding hotkeys, but...

It's much easier to initiate combat with the "R" key (listed as toggling "ready / unready mode", this actually means combat). ALT-clicking simply tells a character to attack something instead of interacting with it in another way, for example it's how you attack a door or chest rather than try to open it. Still useful on occasion (bashing open chests is nice if you can't pick the lock) but not needed for most combat. Apparently ALT-clicking can also be used to drag an object around, which can help you get at things behind it.

So it would still be useful to get ALT-clicking to work, but not as important as you think. Use R for now. Anyone know how to fix ALT problems?

Also, you can use the space bar to close interface windows, instead of ESC.

Thanks for the reply.

I've tried using the space bar it seems to switch from real-time to turn based even when I'm in an interface window. I will try again when I get home. I've installed a few mods so maybe it's have some adverse effect on my game.

Hmm, you might be right about that. You can always close windows with the same key that opens them (e.g. the I key for Inventory) but that can be annoying since it's a different key for each window. I thoght space would close all windows but forgot about the turn-based / realtime toggle.
