Hi,

I have done all the necessary bits and bobs of installing everything as admin and doing directx 9, -no3d and -doublebuffer, compatibility modes, deleting ddraw.dll etc etc and everything seems to work fine in the game so long as i don't apply the High Resolution Patch. If i do that and put the resolution up to 1920x1080 then the game crashes to desktop after about a minute of me doing anything. It doesnt seem to crash if i just stand there and dont do anything but the second a fight comes along it crashes (Arcanum has stopped working). Is this something I will just have to live with or is there a solution as it looked a lot better at 1080. I am running Windows 7 64bit on an AMD HD 7990 GPU.

Any help anyone could give me would be greeeattly appreciated, always loved this game and was hoping to have a nice looking play through but the small screen always bugged me a bit when i used to play it, would love to able to just get a bit more in there so dont have to keep scrolling every 2 seconds.

Cheers

Here's how I sorted it out:
- Installed hi-res patch @ 1920x1080
- Created a shortcut to the game's .exe with a " -window" parameter

The game ran fine for me at this point, but I hate playing in windowed mode, so...
- Navigate here
- Donload and extract the executable somewhere, it does not need to be installed
- Launch the application (you can set it to launch on windows boot by right clicking its icon in taskbar -> ticking "Run at startup")
- Now launch Arcanum and, after it loads, alt+tab out of the game, right click the application and press the "Add window option"
- Bring Arcanum back into focus and press F3. Tada! It runs in fullscreen borderless window.

Now, as long as the application is running in the background, arcanum will launch in this mode automatically. Sometimes when I launch the game, weird borders get added toé the top and bottom of its window - you can fix this by alt+tabbing out, right clicking the applicatio, selecting "Settings -> game settings" and with Arcanum.exe selected in the window just press "apply"
Ah yeah I probably should have mentioned that my monitor is actually 3440x1440 and the 1920x1080 that the High Resolution Patch kinda stretched it to fit my screen and it looked really good. At 3440x1440 its a bit mental in terms of size and I can barely scroll properly either. The borderless windowed thing seems to force it into a literal 1920x1080 so it kinda ends up as a window in the same situation. I may just have to accept the original resolution if there isnt any other fix to stop the crashing. It has however crashed once in the original resolution now so im not totally sure what the issue is....

There is an offset option in the Windowed Borderless Gaming applications settings though, is that something that would do the same kind of stretching to fit my screen?

I've noticed now that it is not necessarily the High Res Patch that is making the game crash. It seems to be crashing (Arcanum has stopped working) even without the patch installed, it just crashes quicker however much i increase the resolution via the patch. It is still crashing every 20 minutes or so on the standard resolution without the High Res patch applied
