Hello / hallo,
in this forum I read some questions about the german translation of Arcanum what is in the GOG-Shop only in english and the way to install german text/audio as described doesn't work anymore because the links to the files lead to nothing. I bought the game by GOG, because it was not possible to run Arcanum with Windows 7, but I still have a old german DVD.
in diesem Forum habe ich einige Fragen gelesen über die deutsche Übersetzung von Arcanum. Die Version im GOG-Shop ist leider nur auf english und der beschriebene Weg für eine deutsche Übersetzung funktioniert nicht mehr, da die Links zu den benötigten Dateien zu keinem Ziel mehr führen. Ich habe das Spiel bei GOG erworben, weil es nicht möglich war, Arcanum unter WIndows 7 zum Laufen zu bringen, aber ich habe noch eine alte deutsche DVD von Arcanum.
If you want the GOG-Version in german AND have an old german CD/DVD too, you may try the following:
Wenn du die GOG-Version auf deutsch haben möchtest UND noch eine alte deutsche CD/DVD hast, kannst du folgendes versuchen:
1. copy and replace the files Arcanum1.dat, Arcanum2.dat, Arcanum3.dat and Arcanum4.dat from the main folder of the german version to the main folder of the english GOG-Version. This is probably c:\GOG Games\Arcanum\
Kopiere und ersetze die Dateien Arcanum1.dat, Arcanum2.dat, Arcanum3.dat und Arcanum4.dat aus dem Hauptverzeichnis der deutschen Version ins Hauptverzeichnis der englischen GOG-Version. Das sollte normalerweise sein: c:\GOG Games\Arcanum\
2. copy the file Arcanum.dat from the "modules"-folder from the german version to the "modules"-folder of the english GOG-Version, this is probably c:\GOG Games\Arcanum\modules\
Kopiere die Datei Arcanum.dat aus dem "modules"-Ordner der deutschen Version in das "modules"-Verzeichnis der englischen GOG-Version. Das sollte normalerweise sein: c:\GOG Games\Arcanum\modules\
If you can't access to the files on the CD/DVD directly you may install the game on an Win 95/98/2000/XP-PC or emulation and take the files from there. The old install folder should be C:\sierra\Arcanum, if you don't choose an other folder while installation.
Wenn du nicht direkt auf die Dateien der CD/DVD zugreifen kannst, kannst du das Spiel vielleicht auf einem Win 95/98/2000/XP-PC oder einer Emulation installieren und die Dateien von dort aus nehmen. Der alte Installations-Ordner sollte sein: C:\sierra\Arcanum, wenn bei der Installation nichts anderes gewählt wurde.
At my computer the games runs fine in german as well as text and audio but it may be that some points are still in english.
Auf meinem Rechner läuft das Spiel gut und auf deutsch, sowohl Text als auch Audio. Aber es kann durchaus sein, daß noch einige Punkte englisch geblieben sind.
