Okay, so I run a windows ten, and I've installed the unofficial arcanum patch, and I am experiencing some issues:

the game becomes extremely laggy if I have more than a few characters on the screen at a time.

I will often get menus layered on top of other menus for a split-second, and a wierd black square will surround my mouse icon.

I changed the name of the old Ddraw file, and that made it so the game wasn't entirely unplayable, and someone reccomended an infinity engine patch which I downloaded, but the problem is I don't know my ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to sifting through files and all that nonsense. I unzipped the file and copied the whole thing into the game's file location, but I've got the same problems.
What's more, I tried the -no3d -doublebuffer thing, but that only exacerbates the problem of the menu-layering.

Arcanum does not use the infinity engine, so that patch won't do anything.

Have you tried running the game using compatibility modes? Try WIn7, XP, etc. and see if those help. Also, are you using the unofficial high-resolution patch? If so, try disabling it and see if you get the same issues.

I don't know what to suggest other than that, but others in this forum are more knowledgeable about technical issues with Arcanum and will hopefully be able to help.
