Since my problem concerns the end of the game I"ll try and discuss it in vague terms to avoid spoiler wrath.

I choose to battle at the final confrontation rather then take the side of the end villain. After the battle there was the slideshow with voice-over saying how everything played out in Arcanum afterwards based on my actions, but it would just play a couple of the slides then abruptly cut out to the main menu. I went through the battle a few times and after each time different groupings of slides would play. It would never actually get as far as showing the final game credits before cutting back to the main menu. I had to go to youtube to see what the end of the game is supposed to be, so I know that it's glitching. I also tried siding with the villain a couple times and each time after killing off my followers who disagreed with the decision the game would just cut out to main menu instead of showing the slide and voice-over describing what happened in Arcanum after.

I played through with all 3 patches recommended in the "STICKY: Arcanum Essential Mods/Patches" topic at the start of this game forum. I'm using 64 bit Windows 7.

Is there a way to stop the ending from glitching? Is there something I can try with my video settings? All the cinematics in this game played just fine and I never had any crashes or video errors before this.

I've finished and seen what happens so it in a way it's a moot point but it would be good to fix it for future playthroughs. It's also pretty anti-climatic to have the end game glitch this way for the first time experiencing it!!! I had many false starts with this game and had to come back to it several times before figuring out the game mechanics so it sucks to have to go to youtube to see the ending. Life is hard lol.

Your guess is as good as mine. I suspect that whatever had been causing your midgame glitches may have had a hand in the endgame glitch, but beyond that I haven't a clue.

I do know that even with my setup, which has generally worked with no problems, I didn't always get all of the end-of-game summaries I was supposed to. I suspect that some of the flags which were supposed to have been set along the way, weren't always triggering. But I don't know whether it was a game glitch or something else; the final credits themselves have never failed to appear for me, leading me to think your issue may have something to do with either a hardware issue, a driver or .dll conflict, or something in your system settings. (Not very limiting or helpful, I know. But it's all I've got.)

I did not actually have any midgame glitches or any glitches at all until this, but you are probably right about it being a vague hardware issue of some kind. I can probably put it down to that plus it being an old game that started out with a lot of bugs. Thanks for responding anyway! Good to know at least someone else has experienced the problem with the end of game summaries. I wouldn't consider it a game breaking bug but it was pretty annoying. The experience of the game itself was awesome at least, definitely one of the top RPGs I've come across.

If anyone else ever has this problem you can at least go to youtube to see the ways Arcanum can end.
