I was playing arcanum, and I used the fire spell that raises dex 2 times, since they stack and i can mantain 2 spells at the same time.

for some reason, today, the game opens a weird box with names like "druid", "mage" and other npc-like names, and the icon of the second spell sustained appears in the end of the maintened boxes instead of the second.

i've tried to screenshot and paste on paint, but it appears only as a black square.

in the box with the names, it looks like i can select them, but nothing seems to happen when i do.

if someone knows how to take a screenshot of the game, i will post it here when i can.

I believe you can hit the F12 key to take a screenshot, which gets saved as a .BMP image to the folder Arcanum/modules/Arcanum.

As to the bug itself, that's a weird one that I've never heard of before.

I have definitely never seen that bug before. But the menu is from the auto-leveling scheme, which is [usually] accessed through the Character screen (see attachment). It allows you the option to have the game automatically assign CPs for you, based on which scheme you've chosen.

I would suggest clicking on both spells first, to cancel them if you can. Then go to the Character menu, and click the white box in the upper right corner (I've highlighted it with a yellow circle). Click on "No Scheme", and then exit the character menu.

If the problem still persists, a fresh install may be called for. Are you using any patches or mods, official or unofficial? And if so, did you start your current game before installing those mods, or afterward?

i'm using this patch to play https://terra-arcanum.com/drog/uap.html#download

i only started playing after installing the patch.
cancelling the spells doesn't work, one of them i can't cancel (even if i pass the time to automatically cancel, it does, but the bug persists). using the auto leveling to no scheme also didn't work.

creating a new character doesn't show the same problem. i think it may be a problem with my save, but i simply don't know.

thanks for the help

My pleasure. It's been known that over-relying on the quick load and quick save keys can introduce errors, so what I like to do is make my own save points as the game goes on, by doing full saves with unique names instead of just rewriting over the same save file.

As a bonus, if I want to return to an earlier point in the game and try something different, I don't need to start all the way over.
