Builds which are overall very rare, more balanced(or weaker if you prefer that term), interesting etc. Any of those? I'm currently playing a mixture between a melee character and a diplomage(which was suggested to me by Waltorious and Gazoinks, thanks to you both)and I'm loving it, but it's just way to powerful and rather bland. So, any opinions?

Slightly off topic but I found character customisation overwhelming (have just started playing). At first I googled good builds but then ended up going for what sounds good to me. So I'm playing as an elf who I hope will end up being well versed in magic with some basic tech abilities and proficient with a bow and melee skills..... that may be optimistic but at least I'll enjoy trying to achieve that. Not sure if that build has a title (such as your diplomage).
I reccomend you this topic:

There you can find a lot about gunslinger build. I think it's super cool, quite chalenging and not magic style overpowered :) Just like Arcanum should be.
I was playing as mechanic (all mechanical and blacksmith schematics, with a little electrics) and technical thief, and this build was cool, but halfling with 5strength must rely on stronger followers. And Sog killed almost all my enemies during gameplay. But if you like put traps everywhere, may be fun :)

I support this because it's my thread and thus the one I'm currently using. :) Starting off as a Gunslinger can be tricky, but it's really fun.

EDIT: Another unusual build might be a Gnome gambler. With high gambling you can get things from shops without paying, which is fairly cool.

A diplogunslinger huh? Looks very interesting, I'll give it a go and give you back some feedback after I'm done okay?

Nice! Gnome gambler? I like your idea :) Someone like "Maveric" :P I must try it for sure.

I tried the diplogunslinger, but I just found it too overwhelming for me. It's a great build and I actually enjoyed it a lot, but it seemed weaker than I actually expected it to be. I've saved a slot for that build in my game once I start knowing this game inside out and become more of a pro at it. Are there any other builds which use tech, but are slightly stronger(I don't want it as powerful as a grenadier, just slightly more powerful thank a diplogunslinger). Any more thoughts?

Yeah, a gunslinger's definitely tricky until you get fairly knowledgable about the game. Probably the easiest way to make a gunslinger easier is to use a Fate Point to pickpocket the Handcannon from Sammy White in Tarant. It's one of the most powerful handguns, so it'll ease up the early sections a fair bit.

As for other tech builds, I believe tech melee is pretty powerful. I've never used it though.

I don't want tech/melee, I want a build that's more balanced, but just not too weak. Also, bullets are expensive as hell.

True. Easiest solution to that is to put a point into explosives early on and then camp outside (it has to be offscreen) of the gun shop until the bullet schematic shows up. Bullet parts are really cheap.

Maybe try throwing? You've got boomerangs and stuff so you don't have to worry about ammo, and then you could focus on crafting support stuff.
but bullets are only 5 bucks, and if you have 1 or 2 points of pickpocketting then you basically have unlimited credit in all stores

(spend all your money on ammo, then steal it back and spend it on ammo again, repeat until theres no more ammo, then steal your money back 1 more time and leave)

also i beg to differ about gunslingers being tricky, i know basically NOTHING about the game, im not even clear on what specifically training does. im level 7 now, and im able to take on multiple level 30 guys in "The Boil" in Tarant with a combination of molotovs, spike traps, and the Quality Revolver i started with.

my only follower is Virgil, who has just what he started with. i mainly use him as a distraction and luggage mule. if i could find more potions of haste, i would be almost unstoppable, and im not even level 10 yet

It is the molotovs probably. They are one of the best first tier tech things you can build. They do a good amount of damage and they push back enemies so they will basically never get near you. A pure gunslinger is a lot harder (but definitely not impossible), just because you don't have any sort of crowd control.
This is completely unrelated to thread, but I just had to ask about it. In the game, if you choose a Half-Ogre with the Sickly history he will get the smart dialogue instead of the dumb one. This only happens with Sickly, by the way. Was this a glitch or intended by the game designers? Also, is it only the dialogue that changes or would a Half-Ogre be a able to use guns as well? I've always wanted to role-play as a Half-Ogre in this game, but what kept me away from them was their dumb dialogue and their inability to use guns. Did I discover something new, or does everybody know about this already?

Your characters only use the dumb dialog if their Int is lower than 4. Half-ogres have an Int penalty, so they're more likely to have the dumb dialog, but it's not built-in. Sickly increases Int, right? That's why you don't get the dumb dialog with Sickly. You also wouldn't if you put points in Int at character creation.

Zorgfin: [snip - guns with half-ogres]
Half-Ogres only can't use one handed guns. They can use two handed guns just fine (which isn't helpful right at the beginning of the game, but you could make it work probably). But no, nothing can change that because it isn't based on intelligence but the size of their hands.
