Hello !

Just a question. I would like to know if it was possible playing multiplay or coop in this game. I know the server are down since a while, but is there a way to play instead ? Like with programs or something like that ?

Thank you !

Sounds interesting I'd like to play
To my knowledge the only way to play this game's multiplayer now is via LAN. Preferably using some kind of program like Hamachi.

Also, I don't think the main game is playable in coop. I think coop is only for scenarios created in the editor (although there is one of those included with the game). Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this.

EDIT: I've heard there's a mod floating around somewhere to make the main game playable in coop, however. Don't know much about it.

The problem with Arcanum's multiplayer was it was clearly not designed for co-op. It seems more designed for deathmatch.

In Arcanum's MP fast travel is disabled, so you must walk everywhere. And combat is locked to real time (aka the worst system in the game nobody uses).

So playing the main campaign in Arcanum co-op would require walking across Arcanum's huge world physically every time, and having to deal with the terrible real time combat system

Yes, I knew this. But I also thought that it was actually impossible to run the main campaign in coop anyway. As in, it's not even an option in the game. I thought multiplayer only works with the modules made with the editor.

Also, my understanding of the real-time and fast travel systems was that with multiple players, there was no easy system for switching between real time and turn-based combat, or for "skipping time" through fast travel. Let's say one player is walking around a town and a different player wants to fast travel to a different town, you can't have the second player suddenly jump 2 days ahead, while the first player is still hanging around the first town 2 days in the past. And if the first player enters combat, would every other player who's elsewhere in the world have to enter turn-based mode too?

Interestingly, I hear that Divinity: Original Sin manages to solve these problems to some extent, allowing real-time exploration and turn-based combat to work together for two coop players. I haven't played it myself yet though.
