Hi,

I just bought Arcanum from GOG and I have try to make the HighRes patch work for it as by default it can only be run in 800x600 screen resolution which is not what I am looking for.

The main issue is FPS rate as it dropped to 0.1 fps when I am in Tarant. When I am not using the patch, everthing work fin but in 800x600.

Unfortunately for me it seems that my computer might not be able to run this. I have tried almost any parameters combination from what I have found with no luck.

My computer is a Acer with AMD Quadcore A4-6210 processor with 6 GB DDR and an AMD Radeon R3 graphic card.

What would be the issue based on your knowledge ? And is it possible to configure the game to run in a different resolution without the patch ?

Thanks !

Have you downloaded and applied the UAP yet?

It's worth it, both for all of the bugfixes and the added content. It includes a version of the Hi-Res patch which has a better chance of working with your system; IIRC, it's one of the options you have the choice to install or not.

If you do install the patch, be prepared to start over; as earlier gamesaves are likely to fail, sometimes in weird ways.

Thanks for your reply.

In fact it's with the UAP that I have a problem with. Without it everything works fine but the resolution can be more than 800x600.

So I did install it and followed some tips from users that had the same issues as me with no luck.

What would be the next steps in you opinion ?

Thanks again, very appreciated.
I would first try uninstall the high-res patch to find the culprit. Please note high-res come with uap but is optional.
Try uninstalling the DDrawCompat wrapper. Worked wonders for me (Win 7).

This line in the config.ini:
"DDrawWrapper = 0 // 1 = install DDrawCompat wrapper"
Damn, I thought I am the only one having this issue.

For me, it's basically game over. 50+ hours wasted.

Not sure what's the problem, but it is related to either The Patch or The HighRes.

I'm trying the suggestion come up from Steam Forum by using older version of the patch and 1.5. ver of HighRes.

HOPEFULLY, my next playthrough aren't going to be botched, again.

I have the save file for the botched playthrough, it's useless in re-installed game, it's corrupted.

(sigh).

Although, I remember tampering with HighRes setting. I suspect either turning the ScrollDist to 0 (infinite) or ScrollFPS to 100 is the culprit (since the error is basically like the game trying to simulate turnbased movement to every fricking citizen in tarant.

My second assumption is to the number of my followers. I got 5 in total - and I noticed the pocket watch turning and stoping each time they moved when I spawned in into the city.
