I just finished Aquanox 2, an overall fun title with an interesting approach to a "underwater combat" system. Despite the lack of save options (Neither checkpoint, which HURTS in some of the lengthier missions) I've had a fine amount of fun playing it.

But...
...as I said, I finished it, halfway hooked with the story. Some archetypal characters and some "it could be told better" parts, and in the other hand an awesome background world, some interesting characters, and the final goal of the game, The Angel Tears, shinning on the end of the track.

But then I got to the end and... nothing. Just a frozen monster, a "now we are rich" and nothing more.
Honestly, given the Aquanox 1ending, I was waiting for some reference to the somewhat Lovecraftian monster who got killed in the fusion plant on Neopolis at the first part ending. Since someone in the game talked about "another enemy besides the bionts" I was seeing a clear ending: The angel tears were some kind of mass destruction weapon to use against those monsters, and in the end it was activated, linking somehow the plot with Aquanox, but the game says nothing (Or, at least, I didn't understood the important parts), and leaves you with more questions than answers.

Plus, the final video hints something about "a merecenary, whose name you -the player- know" willing to kill them, in a "free" reference to who I thought it could be Emerald Flint himself.

Thoughts? Did I miss something? There was an Aquanox 3 planned which would clear all the doubts and link the story of the first part with the second one?
