I just picked up this game recently and I'm enjoying my first playthrough. Like a fool I decided I wanted to play a ranged character and so I've been dumping most of my points into ranged weapons. Recently I came across Steelripper, the spear that does 4d40 when thrown. I took it out of the Eye of Clay as my final act there and went straight into the Reed Plains. I enjoyed throwing the spear at orc riders and willow wisps for a few minutes but at some point the spear simply began to disappear when thrown. I've got a a save with the spear in my hand still and I can move it around but if I throw it it will just *poof* and disappear. I've tried googling this issue and found no results so I'm hoping someone watching these forums can help me here. Is it a bug related to the Reed Plains or Steelripper itself? And if it is the spear how can I fix it? I've read that this is the best ranged weapon I'm gonna get for the rest of the game and I don't much want to continue my playthrough if I can't use it.

I think it is due to the Reed Plain, because all walls in that location behave almost like a hidden wall. When you step on the reed it will disappear, but all will grow back when you leave the location and return. So I think you just have to move forward to the direction where you've thrown your spear and you should find it on a ground after moving several steps. Yes, this is indeed a very powerful weapon, but also remember to keep a special sword that you'll find in the Quagmire.

I've tried that. Tried throwing the spear into a solid rock wall one square in front of me, disappears. Tried throwing it into the reeds then walking straight through that path until hitting the next rock wall, disappears. Tried throwing it into an enemy too, disappears.

EDIT: Had the idea to go backwards out of the Reed Plain and back into the Land of Roots via the tree. Once inside that dungeon the spear began working properly (or so it would seem, there are no enemies alive in the Land of Roots for me to throw it at so I just threw it around at nothing). Hopefully this bug is limited to the Reed Plains because of the hidden walls causing issues.

When next I have time to sit down and play I'll fight my way out of the Reed Plain with melee and spells and see if the spear works again in the next area.

Cleared the reeds and back-tracked to do Gorge Keep. In the keep the spear mostly worked, mostly. In most areas of the map the spear worked fine, but in two particular areas (the upper right side of the map and the central spikey-flamey-bouldery area) the spear would once again fade from existence when thrown. I didn't find any secret walls in this area so I'm not sure what's causing the issue.

I'm out of Gorge Keep and I still have the spear, I would load any time it disappeared, but I'd still like a way to break this bug if possible so I don't have to live in fear of losing my best weapon every time I use it.
