So, I used to play this game on my old laptop without a problem.

but now on my new gaming PC, the game appears to suddenly have developed significant runtime issues... most notably when I use my old strategy of freezing an enemy, taking a step back and repeatedly picking up and throwing the spear at the enemy to concerve stamina...
This goes so far, that sometimes, the enemies die and get stuck in their dieing animation... just sticking around... they drop their items and don't block the path, but it's still odd... and annoying.

anybody know how to fix this? I tried to change OpenGL to Direct3D, but that did absolutely nothing... neither did re-installing the game.

P.S.: even normal attack animations are sometimes flat-out skiped.

I'm not sure this.
I think that you should set in file “dosboxAnvil.conf”

then SET the cycles to slow (9000 to 12000)
and set skip frame to 0
