I'm having a similar issue. The mouse works for menus, but not for movement. It makes the game unplayable without a gamepad.

I'm having the same issue. Did a google search and someone recommended disabling high DPI setting, but that didn't work for me. Not sure how to get it to work....
I've copied SDL and SDL2 dll files from Machine for Pigs to Dark Descent and it works for me :)

I've sent the ticket about that issue to the Support Team. I hope they will patch it soon :)

AMNESIA_SDL_PATCH.zip

Dang, it seems there is still something wrong - mouse works but... Not full 360 deg...
The workaround is pressing the ESC button twice...
Currently, I have no better solution.

We are aware of the issue and our Product/QA Team is currently investigating the problem and working on a solution.

Many thanks for looking into this erbello.

For those of you who are still having difficulties with the game, for the time being, please try reverting back to the previous update.

To do this go to:

GOG GALAXY-> GAME -> The nobs button next to your play button-> Manage installation->Configure -> Installation -> Uncheck "Automatically update to newest version"

Once you uncheck "Automatically update to newest version" please make sure to select an older version and press OK.

Hope this helps, and sorry for any inconveniences caused.

This has nothing to do with the SDL library!

I found the issue. GOG installs 3rd party files like that "goggame.sdb" which adds a compatibility fix "IgnoreAltTab" that broke the mouse function.

The other issue that no game mode selection appears when starting a new game is a bug in the 1.41a Amnesia.exe.
This is something that Frictional Games needs to fix, not GOG.

Can someone please send me the exe from 1.41 without "a"? Then I can take a look what are the changes. Don't want to install GOG Galaxy.

Any progress here? How are things?
Why is there no progress? Offline installers are broken for over a month now!
Just want to add that many of us are re-downloading this game in anticipation for Amnesia Rebirth. So likely a lot more people than normal are encountering this problem and it isn't a minor one. The game is unplayable.
Okay, mouse is now fixed in the latest GOG version!
But game mode selection is still broken. Impossible to play the Hard Mode.

I checked it and compared different Amnesia.exe versions.

1.40 and 1.41 have the exact same exe with working Hard Mode.

1.41a on the other hand has a completely different exe with tons of changes in it. This is confusing when you look at the changelog where only Chinese language was added. So why all these exe changes? I assume a mistake happened and they added an older exe to the 1.41a patch from a much earlier version, where Hard Mode wasn't even present.

Installing 1.41a and replacing the exe from 1.41 or 1.40 over the installation is the solution.

I don't know whether this is a GOG specific or a Frictional Games issue.
Maybe someone can check the Steam version?

PS:
And I also noticed that the 1.41a version has some input lag when opening the options menu. It will take 2 seconds until the options menu appear. In 1.41 and 1.40 versions it will opening directly. This issue is also solved by replacing the .exe!

Make sure you haven't still installed the previous goggame.sdb. Remove it from the "... \Windows\apppatch\CustomSDB" directory. The file name is just encrypted as a key number. You have to find out the right file.

By the way all modern Amnesia versions since 1.3 are BROKEN!

Best Amnesia version is 1.2
Let me explain why modern versions above 1.3 are broken:
1.2 is the latest version made by true Frictional Games people. In later 2011 a lot new members joined the team and had to work on further patches. They introduced some new bugs, but managed to fix them later. Today it's not the bugs why modern versions are broken, but the level changes. For example in the Refinery or Destillery (call it what you want). In original Amnesia the hole in the wall that let you go to the area with the hatch that led into water part, this hole is hidden behind boxes. This is some kind of immersive puzzle with physics based interaction. You first have to throw these boxes away to get through. In later versions the hole is free and visible by default. They removed the boxes to make it easier for noobs to see the hole. This ruins the game completely for me! Amnesia was a masterpiece as it came out in 2010. To change the levels by making them more accessible for noobs is a no-go!!! Games are art. I also won't change parts of the original Mona Lisa to make it more colorful for some people! And the bad thing is this level change can't be restored by copying old level files. It's somewhere connected to the Amnesia.exe.

So I have to stay with my 1.2 version.

The good remastered mod restore this level. I assume it's an own program, so it works without changing the Amnesia.exe. But this mod has some other things I dislike. For example the baby face of the fountain in Back Hall is brown (not a texture issue), some windows have white lines around them, fog and light effects have ugly color layerings in the dark, music stuttering etc.

And in 1.4.1a version they broke the Hard Mode. It's completely removed. I know, 1.2 doesn't even have the Hard Mode too, but 1.4.1a is intended to have it and this shows how they broke things.

Personally I don't need the Hard Mode, because a lot scare effects only occur on low sanity. But the Hard Mode let you die on low sanity, so you will never experience some disturbing scenes!

So I would say:

Amnesia TDD really needs some time of attention by Frictional Games after the release of Rebirth.
They have to focus some resources on this game to make a new polishing for a patch 1.5 or 1.4.2 where all these issues were fixed and the original levels restored. To make it perfect, they also need to restore the phonograph in the Study, because this contains such an interesting dialog with Daniel and the girl he killed. And also restore Herbert's lost diary that contains interesting connections to Justine DLC.

Please don't cut out things from games anymore. If they are good things. If you LOVE Amnesia, make a new patch please and bring us the devinitive release!

Thank you.

Wow! @Porsche2000, thank you for this full length review.
Sadly GOG does not have Amnesia 1.2,

I downgraded to 1.0 and patched it with amnesia remastered mod.

Thank you!
Any Progress at all? How are things about a fix? thanks.
