I went to the underground section and got to the part where you need the pirates key to unlock the chest for the GEM.
I forgot to defeat the pirate and make the ghosts dance beforehand, so I go back (out the cellar) and do so, but now, I am stranded inside of the house. The entrance is unusable since the bridge collapsed, and the cellar entrance is unusable due to the killer centipede or worm thing.

Am I screwed?

Does anyone know if anything is different depending on the character?
Thanks for the tip, but I can't get those saves to run! Maybe they're for a Dosbox version of the game if there is one? Don't know if that possible version is included though? Does anyone have saves that work?

When you examine the picure in the room which contains ghost at chair and gramophone there is different text. Other than that, it is same.

U cant go on to the cellar/tunnel until u finished all the tasks u supposed to.u got to cheat the worm due to the fact u cant fight him.run mode helps.see other contributions here in the forum to the same issue.
You can actually "cheat" - exploit a bug.

Go back inside from the cellar like you did, and then climb down to the caves where the bridge collapsed. From basically anywhere, you can jump, and mid air, go to your inventory and select "put/place" with any object (you won't lose it, don't worry). Then you'll be "flying" and can skip the fall no problems into the other side. This works charms to avoid the water monsters too, or the pillar puzzles. Just jump again normally to go out of "fly" mode
