I get a "Failed to initialize" message when I try to play multiplayer. It's not a firewall problem, it does it even if the firewall is disabled.

Running Windows 8 64 bit.

The first time you run the game, make sure you're opening the shortcut that says "Aliens vs Predator Classic 2000 - Galaxy Client". I had the same issue until I noticed this shortcut. Yeah, it wasn't made entirely clear. The email should have mentioned this in its instructions. After it finishes doing its thing, you should be able to launch the game without Galaxy client and play multiplayer.

I tried loading the game from that shortcut but I still can't join online games.

Yeah me too, it acts like there are no servers.

Is the message "No Sessions Were Found"? It's very possible that there actually are no servers up at the moment, because server sessions need to be created by players. If nobody has set up a session, the game will correctly note that there are no servers up.

I have the same exact problem, when enter Multiplayer only "failed to Initialize" is displayed. Skirmish works fine

With GOG Galaxy there is failed to authorize(0)

Download the latest installer (setup_avp_classic_2.1.0.26.exe) from GOG. In your internet browser, go to Account, then Library, then Aliens versus Predator Classic 2000 and redownload the game.

***NOTE*** GOG may be distributing an outdated version of this .exe (version 2.1.0.25). If you download this version, reinstall it, and the multiplayer still says it fails to initialize, let us know. This is a problem on GOG's end that they'll need to get fixed.

I'm running XP and I get the "failed to initialize" error two times in a row when trying to open the game period. I made a Thread about it but nobody has helped.

The GOG Library download is version 2.1.0.25.

What to do??

Hey, I downloaded the game yesterday, and I'm getting the multiplayer "failed to init" bug too. I do not have the Galaxy Client launcher that was mentioned. Any suggestions ?

Have you tried re-downloading and re-installing the latest GOG Galaxy Client here:

You may have to do this first and then load AvP Classic 2000 again and see if multiplayer would initialize correctly.
