Hi all,

Can someone please help me see what may be wrong with my setup?. I just purchased this game for my windows 7 64bits just installed rig, and it installs ok, and starts fine. But as soon as i start walking and reach the fence the character disappears and all i can see is his shadow in the ground. It continues working as i can shoot and i see the shadow moving, bullets effects and everything. The camera still follows the invisible man as i move also.

I have an ATI HD4850 card and all video and windows drivers updated. The game detects it fine. I have had no other issue with other games installed from gog. I have also downloaded and installed the June2010 directx drivers to add compatibility to older games -i read this from the help doc- . I have tried different game resolutions and color depth to no avail. Has anybody encounter such an issue or have any idea of what may be wrong? Thank you all for your kind assistance.

Just to clarify, this is Alien Shooter 1, the first level? Only there are two Alien Shooter games on GOG.

Sorry for not being clear, it is for Alien Shooter 1. The issue happens right at the start of the game.

Hmm, interesting. On my first play of the game it crashed as I was running around the fence area trying to find the way in. However, second run it was fine. Not had the invisible character issue, though I have an nVidia GPU. There is an outside possibility that there is an issue with that first map though.
Yes it is something interesting. I tried running the game a few more times and I always had this problem. I think i will install windows xp in another partition and see if the issue happens there. I will let you know. Thanks for your comments korell.

Well, I'm running Vista Ultimate 64-bit and that one crash on the first map is the only issue I've had so far.

Out of interest, a couple of things to check:

Are your graphics drivers up to date?
Where have you installed the game to (folder path)?
Have you tried the usual fixes such as running as admin, disabling visual themes, running in various compatibility modes?
Hi Korell,

I have had not much time to look into this recently as i was out of town, so i am still to install the game in the WinXp partition.

Answering your questions:
1. Yes drivers are up to date. The pc was just installed 2 weeks ago. All drivers used were last versions downloaded from the official sites -i am not using any modded drives- or any type of overclocking. Just to add, all hardware is ok, as i have had no issues with other games. Just this one.

2. The intallation was done in F:\ drive. All my games are installed in this partition. i can try installing in the default location just to make sure that is not an issue and let you know.

3. I have tried different resolutions, color bit depth, compatibility modes. I still need to try disabling visual themes..I will try and let you know

I will be home today so i think i can try all possible solutions you mention

Thanks a lot for following on this =)
No worries. It will be interesting to see how you get on with the WinXP partition.

The reason I asked about install location is really more to do with Windows Vista and Windows 7 as they have protected Program Files folders, so I don't recommend installing there on these OSes. However, XP doesn't have this issue.
