Hi,

Ive just installed Nations Gold on my Windows 10 machine.
After some troubleshooting, I was able to get it running:
1) At resolution of my choice using 'tools'
2) Without any cursor flickering whatsoever using ddraw.dll

What I can't get to work though, is getting rid of camera movement lag (also, the main menu with the peon guy trying to follow your mouse cursor lags as hell).
I've tried all I could think of:
1) Disabling/Enabling VSync
2) Tinkering with tools
3) With/Without compatibility mode for various versions of Windows

Has anybody else encountered/found a fix for this?

Thanks in advance,
Tomas

Lot's of people seem to have this problem, me as well. In my other PC (Win 10), was alright for me, but now, using Win 11, it just lags. Found any fix?
Finally!
With this solution - game working:
BUT I can't posted any links so: search on youtube: "Beach Life Windows 10 lag fix"
and follow the guide.

If the screen is flashing, quickly change the resolution

Depending a bit, the lag with certain older Windows games is often due to your computer being on for too long and a certain function (QueryPerformanceCounter) in certain games overflowing causing issues. While a hard reboot usually fixes this, the better solution is to use DXWrapper and UptimeFaker.

DxWrapper can be downloaded from github.com/elishacloud/dxwrapper/releases – DxWrapper also takes care of most graphical issues!

UptimeFixer (the 32 bit version) is also on github: cookieplmonster.github.io/mods/tools/

For Nations Gold, you need to extract both under the /bin/ subdirectory found where the game itself is installed (i.e. <path to your GOG installs>\The Nations Gold\bin\).

Then you need to edit the extracted dxwrapper.ini and add UptimeFaker32.dll into LoadCustomDllPath under General:
[General]
LoadCustomDllPath = UptimeFaker32.dll

And set AddUptimeDays=0 in the UptimeFaker.ini.

For other graphical glitches, there's a good guide for DXWrapper with Nations Gold that can be found by googling "Dxwrapper nations gold"

Cheers & good luck!

edit:
One more thing, you might need to remove the win98 compatibility mode from bin/game.exe and the GoG shortcut!
