Looking at the visuals and reading the blurb, it seems to be more than what the listed file size of 296 Mb is. Is that maybe an error or is the game limited in some way, low quality etc? The screenshots seem a bit washed out, though the video seems a bit better. This game is obviously a very visual game, so quality certainly matters.

My general rule of thumb, depending on the type of game and reliance on good visuals, is that less than 1 Gb I pay less than $10 AUD. Usually for only 296 Mb I would be wanting to pay less than $5 AUD, so paying $8 more seems quite steep, and I get the feeling that it is mostly donation money. I don't mind paying a couple of extra dollars for a worthy cause, but not that much. Can't believe it is a 45% discount.

Hello Timboli!

The file size of the installer is actually quite small, and even the overall installation size is comparable small, way below 1 GB.
Mainly, this small size is the result of the low polygon count, comparable small game world of just one main island and a tiny extra island, and the low texture detail of the game, together with the lack of any voice over--it is text only.
As you can see in the video and screenshots on the game card, primarily the animals have some more detailed textures! Everything else uses in principle merely one color and some shading per surface.

Do these aesthetic choices belittle the game or its experience?
I do not think so! But I am very fond of the low polygon count artstyle in general and here in particular.

If it is enough value for the current price, each one has to decide for themself. I am glad, that I picked up "Alba: Wildlife Adventure" on release even without the 45% discount.

Do you like a calm, peaceful, wholesome experience that you can finish in a couple of hours or only a few gaming evenings?
Do you like exploring a whimsically designed (smaller) game world in the style of a mediterrean island without rushing to the next objective?
Do you like to observe animals and maybe take a picture or two?

If yes, you propably might enjoy "Alba: Wildlife Adventure"!

Playing "Alba" reminded me of the time I was working in Spain visiting Barcelona and the mediterrean sea coast, which surely added value to my enjoyment.

Kind regards,
foxgog

[Edit:]
P.S.: I forgot to mention: I consider the small memory footprint and the lower system reqirements as an advantage, because I can have smaller games like these installed in parallel to other games and visit or re-visit them every now and then when I feel like.
(Playing through the modern Tomb Raider games, recently, I had to free extra space on my hard drive in order to just install the huge "Tomb Raider GotY (2013)"-- roughly 17 GB for the offline installer file + about the same size for the temporary files created during the install process + 19 GB for the actual installation (which can be reduced to approximately 10 GB by removing additional unwanted language files, but only after the game has been installed)!)

Thanks foxgog, I shall ponder the game some more.

I do like that style of game on occasion, and the visuals would be a big part for me, and I wouldn't be just buying it for me.
