NO, too late! Oh well, I still have it on Steam, but I'd really like to have the DRM free version.
Will it remain in your account if you've already bought it?

SO much for 48 hours.

Of course!
Otherwise, WHY should there even be a sale?

The sale did last for 48 hours but that is a short time unless you live in these forums.

Another game sucked into the copy right black hole.

This was answered in this thread.

I'm wondering if the people asking this question are also people who have bought games on console(s) that have gone through similar issues. Granted, the last console I played a game with was one that didn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but I've always been under the impression that if you don't keep a game downloaded to the HDD for the console, then you potentially risk losing future access to it if it has been removed from digital storefronts.

Well, it CAN happen of course, but usually it won't. It's more likely that a store has to close it's doors for good and you can't play the game anymore.
At least that's a minor problem with GoG, since if we want, we can always download and archive our games, install them anytime we want.

What CAN happen, is that a game gets changed. In the case of Alan Wake they could have changed the game in order to solve the expiring licences by removing the songs from the game. This happened to GTASA and other games on Steam. They are still being sold, but the songs in question are missing. The bad thing about that is that they are also missing for players who bought the game earlier.

In this case, I'm talking about console specific digital retailers (Xbox Marketplace, PSN and... I guess those are the big ones - edit: oh, and the Nintendo eShop, though my understanding there is a lot of re-purchasing often occurs). My curiosity was more toward whether their policy with this sort of thing is "it must be downloaded/remain on the console's disk drive or the account will lose future access", which seems like a real possibility with how often people worry about such a thing when it comes to the PC side of things (which, like you mention, is often never an issue unless the store is shutting down entirely, though in that event there's typically a lengthy notification time before it actually occurs).
