Hello

Tried to play and stream Alan Wake (the original, not the remastered) again this year. Since last year i partially changed computer.
Last year everything went fine with the GOG build (aside from me having a very shabby DSL connection... nothing game-related)

This time though, the cutscenes running on the ingame engine (not the prerendered video encoded ones) were misbehaving: environement is fine, but all the characters and some 3D items are shaking like parkinson.
Exemple: the cutscene on the ferry when you arrive at Brightfall harbor/coast: Alan, Alice, the Radio Station Guy and the other guy, plus the cars and the ferry are stuttering and shaking (regardless of vsync on or off)

Compared to last year: Same OS, same GPU, more RAM, game runs on a better hdd (7200rpm instead of 5400) BUT i upgraded from a small Intel dualcore G4400 (on which Alan Wake was already running fine) to a Ryzen 5 1500AF. (and i launched the game on a different language through the language selection exe)

Does anyone had similar behavior with the ingame engine cutscenes ? And does anyone know about a solution or workaround ?

Thanx in advance

This is very odd, it sounds similar to GTA IV, where during cutscenes the camera is FPS-uncapped but the characters' movements are always 30 FPS so they look super-jittery. Afaik, Alan Wake shouldn't have this issue, but it might be worth trying using an FPS limiter to 30 to see if it goes away.
It seems my current CPU is waaaaay too powerful compared to the one i had last year when i last played the game...

I had a dual core G4400 (intel) from 2016... Now i have a Ryzen 5 and the game really didnt handle well the multithread optimization with 12 cores...
I used a tool to change alan wake's executable affinity to cores and reduce it to 4 or 6 cores (it still runs fine, though maybe not 60 fps... but at least if i do that, the strange behavior with ingame engine cutscenes doesnt occur anymore)
Alan Wake has problems with multi CPU cores - not on every system, but it can happen.
In that case limit your CPU cores to 4. It can also run with 2, but 4 should be ok.
