Gowor: The new patch is ready - save game folder is back to the original. If you copied the saves to the other folder, you should move them back.

Coelocanth: Okay, there's a patch 1.03 for Alan Wake and a patch 1.02 for American Nightmare. If you have both games installed, which do you use?
You need to install both patches.

Extremely fast reaction to this problem. Way to go GOG / Remedy ! :)

Ah, thanks, and apologies for the stupid question. Brain fart on my part: I was thinking it was a combined install for the games instead of separate.
Downloaded Patch and applied but the MSAA warning still pops up and prevents the game from starting and so can't get to the Options to set the game on the Lowest settings. I checked the REMEDY Site using the link in this post and someone there had the same situation.

REMEDY replied *** JakeBloom - right. Yes, we still have the MSAA detection on in the lauch. It's kind of a complex problem, we need to disable any other settings than very low if the card doesn't support MSAA and really don't have any built in way to do it. We'll see if we can do anything about it.***

So, appears they are still trying to figure it out. Sort of strange to release a patch that eliminates the need for MSAA and offers LOWER Settings but still leave the MSAA Check so the game won't start !!??

They are working on it.
I like your patching solution, GOG. I happen to come to the site and see I have 2 alerts. Then it tells me patches have been added and for which games. Nice.

I have purchased this, but not downloaded yet - is the installer patched as well?

You've probably already figured it out but just so others see the answer:
No, the main game installer remains in version 1.0.0. You always have to download and install the game and the patch separately (at least it's been this way until now).

Just wondering... was there an official announcement on this policy that I obviously missed? It always used to be that we had to redownload the revised installer. But I'm noticing this new procedure on other games as well.

I don't remember any kind of official announcement on this except maybe some comments by GOG staff on the forums but it seems GOG prefers this kind of update now, at least for bigger games. Only game except Alan Wake where I have seen this so far is Painkiller which is quite surprising as the game is pretty darn old. Don't know what to think about this. At first I liked the fact that I don't have to redownload the whole game. Now I'm a bit annoyed by the fact that I always have to download two files and execute separate installers every time. Would be cool if GOG always updated both, the main installer and the patch so people who have already downloaded the game don't have to redownload the whole package while first-time downloaders don't have to manually apply the update.

F4LL0UT:
Thanks. The first I noticed it was with Witcher 2 and that made sense because it was a new game. At first they updated the main installer after a while but now they don't.
I had gotten used to their no-hassle approach (no patches needed, just install and play) and I think I prefer it especially for backing up my downloads to dvd.
Please don't post links to scene releases of content. Thank you.

Are you in Administrator mode in Windows?

Did you download the whole game installer, install it, then apply the patch all from GOG?
