I played my turn before looking at the rules! Let's touch base about what the rules mean and I'll resubmit!

"no cheating"
There's obvious ones like no peaking, and no using a modded version for your turn, and no prematurely ending the indie turn to change its behaviour, no using one of those hack engines to give yourself 100000 gold etc. But is there anything else that we're looking for? Mechanic-wise, are we considering abusing the mechanics to be a "cheat"? E.g. summoning over walls to capture a dead players lightning altars, attacking from two hexes to force the AI to attack first, etc?

"no spam retreating to gradually kill indies with ranged units"

Hard and Soft Micro'ing
There's hard micro'ing and soft micro'ing. Hard micro'ing is running in with ranged, pinging a few hits and running away. Rinse and repeat until the indies are dead. (It's easy to see in the battle history).

Soft micro'ing is kiting. Using a faster unit, ping a shot, run around the battlefield far enough away while the slower unit chases you, and ping another shot. Rinse and repeat. (this is hard to see in the battle history). <-- A good example of this is an earth elemental vs a leader with deathray.

Another form of soft micro'ing is abusing the way that the AI chases you. A syron will run for your leader. If you keep placing a melee unit beside the indie and run your leader around the map, eventually the retaliation strikes will ping down the big unit until it is dead or you make a mistake. (this is also hard to see in the battle history). You can also do this with an archer and leader that runs in circles.

You can also soft micro by going into dungeons, blocking a path to the tasty unit the indie wants and force it to walk back and forth in the dungeon while you hit it with ranged.

Are we banning the use of all micro'ing? Or just hard micro'ing?

"Freemove warships disallowed"

Does this also apply to the use of windwalking and firehalo on warships?

I'm all for using whatever rules, I just want to make sure we're all on the same page.

Ok, have updated the post about the rules
Thanks for the clarification!

Turn resubmitted
Ah here's why I had all those games in my inbox lol

It's fine if you guys don't mind waiting a bit - I have an important work thing on thursday, and wont' be able to commit a lot to new games. Afterwards I'm good.
Anomandaris, day 1

My meagre task force finally reaches its destination, the fabled Xelm Plateau where countless troops live in peace and harmony carefully managing the fruits of the land.

We set forth to destroy this balance and possess it all. A Xyron giant looks too hard and we carefully avoid it... Luckily, a dark elf city grants its services for but a little money. We're now broke but we can progress a bit further.
Having difficulty opening up the email both manually and with the wrapper. Arnuz would you be able to resend? If that doesn't work may be able to troubleshoot. Do I need to have the map downloaded? Do I need a specific mod?
I don't think so (for both). Resending.

What sort of difficulty? The email should have a save file, so you load that file in game like any other save file. I generally place the file into the EmailIn folder, but it doesn't really matter where.
You don't need the map, and even if we were using a mod, you wouldn't need the mod to open or play the turn, just to keep the ruleset/balance consistent.
All good now, file just needed to be resent

Highmen, Day 2

I have Chain Lightning now! Not too many remaining troops to hide behind - but enough.
Uh oh, the Undead may be dead soon. I underestimated a Dwarven mole and some beserkers and lost a good amount of troops in the process. Going to be hard to free up those piles of gold now.

:( I don't know what happened with last turn resend, I now have 2 restarts one at the end of last turn and one at the beginning of this, I had none when I sent it and I used the resend function - the one that doesn't let you even open the turn... https://imgur.com/Vk3QObv

I'm playing as normal, if anyone objects I'll surrender.
I don't really care honestly
It's not like you need to cheat to win AoW games...

I got a chuckle out of that one, I feel the same way.
