Hello guys,

Just started playing but there's something that really bother me : the game is not smooth !

Test it with fraps to be sure it was not a trick of my mind and the result is clear : even with medium settings, when I scroll (which one should do a lot in this game) I'm at constant 60FPS.... unless I have an unit selected, in which case my frame rate drops atrocely, less than 15FPS... pretty noticeable... and vomitory !

Anyone has the same problem ? Any hint ?

My specs :

intel Q9550
4Go Ram
HD 9970
Windows 7

Yeah same performance problems here too, doesn't seem to matter if I lower the GFX or resolution, something isn't right sadly. I was so looking forward to this game too... ah well, hopefully a solution or patch will resolve things soon!

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
GeForce GTX 670
i5-2500 3.3ghz
8gb RAM

There have been some people reporting better performance with windowed mode, or if they have on-board GFX that the game was defaulting to using that rather than the GFX card, so you could try that perhaps?
If you are running on a laptop then it is likely that the game has selected your integrated graphics chipset as the default graphics processor. This could give problems because that chipset may not have the video memory necessary to start the game; the minimum required video memory is 512MB. To fix this you need to manually switch to your dedicated graphics processor.

i find AoW3 not very good optimized (had some very slight fps drops i noticed) atm but it's not really stuttering on my end.

try borderless window mode (standard) or fullscreen. also try deactivating v-sync which helps improving framerate a lot in every game. in some preview videos on youtube i saw someone saying that if he has shadows enabled that he gets big fps drops.

choosing a smaller mapand / or less opponents may also help (if you cranked everything up to max) and selecting classic turns instead of simultanious turns may also help.

My specs:

Intel Core i5 4440 @ 3.10 GHz (4x)
8GB RAM (DDR3 i think)
AMD Radeon HD 8750 (2GB)
Windows 8.1
Turning of the shadows helps a lot, and if you can stand it killing the bloom effect does quite a bit too. Lets put it this way I can run it on my rig for about 6 hours like that before I get issues and I got the following

Inter E8500 (3.16 Ghz dual core)
4GB RAM
Geforce 4900 GT
Win 7 64-bit Ultimate

You could also try using razer gamebooster with it, it helps me keep my performance fairly even (not amazing cause my machine is one step from going into a museum, but even).
somewhere i read a post that changing the settings from ultra (my standard settings where high) would improve framerate. i now have borderless window, vsync off and graphic settings on ultra. the game works like a charm.

i read it on steam, dev will fix this in the next patch... i also have other weird frame drop. on large scale battle, everything is smooth at beginning.. but when battle near to end (lot of unit are dead), my game become very laggy. i hope dev will fix this too...
Triumph is indeed working on it and they will patch at least some of the framedrop issues (hopefully all in the first patch, but if not then in a next patch).

How do you do that?
