Hi, I've been playing this game for some time now, and I've had this problem since I started playing. The AI is just wierdly passive and never makes any aggressive diplomatic moves, it never fabricates grievances, never declares war etc. Come the latest update (Ogre patch +hotfixes) it doesn't even forward settle anymore. I've actually never been declared war on, ever (except for someone calling their ally to war).

This is vastly different from what I've seen from other players and when I watch streams: I'm starting to wonder if something is wrong with my game? I've tried everything, repairing, uninstalling etc, stuck with extremely sluggish AI that never poses any threat.

It's gotten to the point where I generally don't play with diplomacy on at all. Decided to try a diplomacy game with the new Ogre patches but nope, same passive, predictable AI.

I don't have any mods installed, only the base game. Starting to wonder if that could have any bearing on the AI? Is there anyone who experiences the same?

Theoretically, It will tend to do that if you have a large number of players because it doesn't consider you a threat or a priority.

But you could be right about it being a problem with the recent patch. I'm speaking from past experience.

This hasn't come up on the Paradox forum recently.
