Has anyone on here beat the final boss yet?

I'm a bit confused from my fight with him last night (at least I'd hope that was the final boss).

Level 100, his health bar appeared to be totally depleted. His head disappeared, which was part of the fight mechanic anyways, and he started stomping with his legs. Except more and more of them kept appearing. Eventually after about 3 minutes straight of this stomping action I finally died. Started off with 15 hearts and a heart symbol to regain some health during the fight.

I'm wondering if it was because I didn't have the last two story books. I'll try again tonight.

If anyone's beat him, tips would be greatly appreciated.

I'm on the final boss myself, and I can't beat him either -- I haven't even gotten his health down that far (using the Hunter, only about 8 hearts). I, like you, don't have all the storybooks (was lucky enough to warp through the previous two bosses). Is that the key, perhaps? I hope not...

I just beat the final boss. I am missing three story books. I got him to about 50% HP then he started stomping for probably 60 seconds then I killed him next time he was in his normal form.

I found that if you hang out on the ladder in line with the platform he rarely hits you there.
