BATTLETECH – Eyes on the Game #5

Today let's take look at the renowned turn-based strategy title developed by Harebrained Schemes and published by Paradox Interactive! BATTLETECH is a turn-based tactical game where you take command of a mercenary outfit of 'Mechs and the MechWarriors that pilot them, struggling to stay afloat as you find yourself drawn into a brutal interstellar civil war.

Did you know?

• BATTLETECH is based on the military science fiction franchise created by Jordan Weisman and L. Ross Babcock III in 1984. Weisman is also one of the founding fathers of Harebrained Schemes, a studio that was responsible for the game’s development.
• After the success of their previous games from the Shadowrun franchise, members of Harebrained Schemes have decided to change the setting of their next title. The BATTLETECH Kickstarter campaign they launched in September 2015 received its funding goal of 250,000 USD... within an hour!
• During the battles against enemy mechs you have to watch out not only for enemy missiles and lasers. Just like in the BATTLETECH board games, overheating can successfully impede your mech’s actions or even lead to its demise.

THE SOUNDTRACK

The space opera vibe of BATTLETECH is strongly reinforced by the epic music composed by Jon Everist. For his outstanding work, Everist received an American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers “Composer’s Choice Award” nomination for “Best Video Game Score of 2018”.
