Zombie Shooter

Zombie Shooter is a mediocre arcade shooter but does have satisfying action and upgrades for weapons, armor and other stuff. The game supports only a 1024x768 resolution. There is a solution to play in Window mode at a higher resolution, but this has a huge impact on the framerate. There is no (XBOX) controller support, the mouse is your primary controller. There is a good variation in zombies and monsters but it gets a little bit repetitive after a while. I know that zombies are brainless, but the A.I. pathfinding in this game is very poor and despite all the weapons and upgrades, this your main advantage in the game. With this you can simple beat the end boss (and only boss in this game). Another issue is the isometric view where the enemy can sometimes “hide” behind or in front of a wall.

If you are a fan of Zombie games, Robotron and Smash TV, then this is for you. It'a 3/4 perspective run-and-shoot-in-360 degrees game with some secret items hidden around the environment. Along the way you will pick up different weapons and upgrade your abilities. You'll have to plow your way through hordes of zombies with your weapons, but not necessarily mindlessly, but with a little strategy. Sometimes you can ride in a vehicle. That's it. Not really complicated, but if you like shooting games like this, you'll be satisfied. The story is OK and nothing to get excited about, but at least it has one. It has some negative points: not a deep game, repetitive music and average length. The game isn't really original, but what is there, works. There aren't that many music tracks in the game, so you may get tired of hearing some of the same tracks throughout. Depending on the person the game could be completed within 1-3 days. The worse thing in the game are disappearing items. Occasionally an item, usually a weapon, will disappear from your inventory. This is a bug that the developers have never fixed. Even though this game isn't ground-breaking it doesn't need to. It has that same addictive gameplay like Smash TV, Robotron and Zombies Ate My Neighbors that I enjoyed many years ago and I think that is the important point. I recommend it to all who enjoy shooters, but cannot play FPS games. Also try their Alien Shooter series which is basically the same game with aliens.

There isn't a whole lot to say about this game. It involves copious amounts of zombie juice making the floor rather slick, in either red or green color. The idea is stay away from the things that hurt you and hurt the other things before they can get close enough. Then, there is the boss battle at the end that doesn't allow you to make things go away with your weapons. You need to make them go away with bigger weapons that you can't actually handle yourself. The action is quick and fast yet doesn't let you rest, and it is completely satisfying. However, the game is completely experienced in one play-through. Not a bad drawback for a game this satisfying. To me Zombie Shooter is still the most solid out of the Sigma Team games. The gun ballistics feel impactful, the upgrade system of tiered weapons by getting multiple of them off of secrets, the push forward combat encouraged with ever dropping XP bonuses that disappear quickly.

Mann, brings me back, that I play this game again. All those memories and gun sounds and enemy sounds. The game still is hardcore hard, just like in the good old days. Too bad, it is still not properly update for modern PCs, only 1024 res. support and locked at 30 fps, but still enjoying the game. No MODS or fan made patches I can see for that :/ So far only launching the game, some time it will crash, but in game, works great if you get it. Overall still fun game with minor problems.
