Ys Origin

The first one of the serie I played. Because it's not that hard, if you play it at "normal" difficulty. Frustration is far from it. Progression it's easy, two or three level up will be enough to beat the next boss, that's a great thing if you don't like grinding for hours.

Great Fun, It can be challenging for those who aren';t used to learning gimmics for bosses to defeat them quickly. This is not a slash or hit mindlessly sort of game. Worth the playthroughs.

I may have been spoiled by having previously played Ys VI, but this game just didn't click with me the same way Ys1/2 and VI did. It's still a fine game, but not one I felt like I wanted to finish. In short, this is an action RPG which has fairly well functioning combat going for it. It just gets really repetitive really fast. The tower you are climbing looks fairly nice and cleanly defined, but at the same time it seems to lack much in the way of personality. The storyline is fine, trying to be touching. And the boss encounters do shake up the game play every now and then. The game is fine, just nothing which keeps my attention. If you like action RPGs which feature a deal of grind, some quite spongey enemies and don't need varied locales, this game might be right up your alley. For me, it felt like though I was progressing, I was still stuck doing the same thing as in the start,now just with more tedium and BS from the enemies. Game is not bad, but not that good either.

Good gameplay, story and soundtrack.

Solid gameplay, excellent story, rewarding experience! This game is a great part of the series and tells the story of the event's leading up to Ys 1 & 2! If you haven't played this game, buy it, enjoy it!
