As a HUGE fan of the original Banjo-Kazooie games, I was really excited for Yooka-Laylee. It has some flaws, especially regarding pacing, and the Cashino level, but it's still an enjoyable game. Sure there are better collectathons that have come out, but this game still has a lot of charm and will take you back to the N64 glory days.

The game is fun, has a lot of contend, different enemies and bosses, cool special-abilities and a lot to discover. All the enviroments look great. But the controlls, especially the auto-camera focus are just aweful. And you can't even change them. It's just annoying, if you have to press Shift+Alt+Z and some arrow keys at the same time, especially in the final boss battle, which by the way does not contain any checkpoints.
If controlls were changeable or if there were better default controlls at least I would give 4 or even 5 stars.
Yooka-Layle is an ode to the 3D platform games that reigned for years during the 64-bit generation. However, it is Banjo-Kazooie who comes as the main reference, not only because the game flushes through dialogues, menus, challenges, art, music and the title's own name, but also because much of the original Rare team (and subsequently created Banjo-Kazooie) is part of Playtronic, the developer of this title. No less, even acclaimed composers David Wise (Donk Kong Country trilogy) and Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie) are part of this stellar cast.
It is a game that not only makes you smile all the time by referring us to the good times of childhood and adolescence, but also because it recovers a genre so forgotten in recent decades, adding new rich elements to 3D platforms.
Everything in Yooka-Layle is beautiful, thought to the smallest details. It is a masterpiece to be enjoyed by the new and old generations, so that everyone can visit or revisit a piece of game history through a new outfit, anchored by a pair of characters as charismatic as their parents, Banjo and Kazooie.
The few flaws do not stand out from his mastery, making it a must-have for any video game player.
Great game! Amazing graphics, audio and gameplay. Don't believe some negative reviews, try it yourself and you will see. If you already liked this genre in the days of Nintentedo 64, I can guarantee that this game will make you smile with joy.
