WHO ARE YOU, REALLY?

XIII is a remake of the cult first-person action game that was initially released in 2003. You play as “XIII”, a man without an identity, in a solo campaign with numerous twists and turns. Inspired by the eponymous graphic novel, the game features a completely reinvented and unique cel-shading design. In XIII, players can also take part in fierce multi-player fights.

The country remains in a state of shock following the assassination of President Sheridan. You wake up, wounded and with amnesia, on a deserted beach on the east coast. The only clues as to your identity are a tattoo of the number XIII near your collarbone and a locker key. Even though your memory is failing, you discover that you have the reflexes of a highly trained professional fighter. You set off in search of your past, discovering that you played a role in the murder of the President of the United States of America, and revealing the most astounding conspiracy ever hatched in the country's history.

Features:

The remake of the 2003 cult FPS initially released on PC, PlayStation 2, Xbox and Nintendo Gamecube.
A new artistic direction that respects the original work and its iconic cel-shading design.

Music and voices from the original version.
A conspiracy-based plot with numerous twists and turns.
Varied gameplay with action, infiltration and exploration phases.

A brutal arsenal of 15 weapons to get your memory back.

had to see for myself

So im re-playing the old version od XIII and figured that since the remake was omn sale for about a dollar well... why the hell not check it? bottom line, same game, different graphics and some mechanics are changed such the ability to aim down sights. My advicwe: stick with the original, the new grqphics cahnge what gave the original it's "cult status". The cel shaded comic style was what made the game a fun and somewhat unique experiemce- this is just a bad restoration- like that painting of Jesus that was restored that looks like something a second grader migght paint. The ADS feature doen'r do the player any favors and the frame rate is BAD.

Very cool game.

Liked this game quite much - cool artstyle, nice sountrack, shooting is good and stealth elements bring some variety. I have played original but did not get too far, just did not click but this remake is very good in my opinion. This game does not deserve such a low score like average here is. Don't know how it was when released few years back but now this game is quite enjoyable. From technical stand point, had no problems. Game runs very smoothly. Had only some 1-2 minor glitches but nothing game breaking or something that ruins experience. Only thing why not maximum score is that story wasn't for me, did not enjoy it very much. But overall - definite recommendation.

no review... but opinion

they didn´t realize that high-res graphics could ruin the comicstyle? imho the game should have had way more abstraction to be functional

Almost 20 years

Gosh, almost 20 years lies between the original and the remake! I cannot believe that I played the original on disk before gaming cloud services were even invented! The graphics is different, in the new one it's more like 3D and realistic, in the original it's flat and cartoonish, I like the latter. Comparing to the original version this seems to lose 'espionage fleur', gameplay is more like regular action shooter. More enemies 'per inch' and Jason Fly is like real die-hard. Poor that several storyline cinematics are missing. Poor that to listen for enemy TAP-TAP-TAPping the player have to crouch, this keeps the player away form 'stealth'.
