Description
XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen, is the expansion to the 2016 award-winning strategy game of the year.

XCOM® 2: War of the Chosen adds extensive new content in the fight against ADVENT when additional resistance factions form in order to eliminate the alien threat on Earth. In response, a new enemy, known as the “Chosen,” emerges with one goal: recapture the Commander. This expansion includes new Hero classes to counter the “Chosen”, new enemies, missions, environments and increased depth in strategic gameplay.

NEW FACTIONS & HERO CLASSES

Three additional factions have emerged to strengthen Earth's resistance – the Reapers, Skirmishers and Templars – each with its own unique abilities and contrasting philosophies. These factions provide powerful hero class soldiers to aid in missions and new opportunities for the strategy layer.

THE CHOSEN

The Chosen are the most cunning enemies XCOM has ever faced, each with unique strengths and weaknesses that will be introduced with each new campaign. The Chosen are on the hunt for the Commander and will kidnap, interrogate, and kill XCOM’s soldiers to complete their objective. The Chosen can also invade the strategy layer and ravage XCOM’s global operations. Find and raid the Chosen’s strongholds to defeat the enemy for good.

NEW ALIEN & ADVENT THREATS

A deadly new alien known as the Spectre, capable of creating dark copies of XCOM soldiers, has snuck onto the battlefield. Adopt new tactics to counter it as well as the explosive attacks of the ADVENT Purifier and the psionically charged ADVENT Priest.

NEW ENVIRONMENTS AND MISSION OBJECTIVES

Engage in tactical missions across new environments from abandoned cities devastated by alien bioweapons during the original invasion, to underground tunnels and xenoformed wilderness regions.

ENHANCED STRATEGY LAYER

Manage XCOM’s relations with factions and counter The Chosen’s operations from the Avenger. Employ new Resistance Orders to prioritize your personal strategy. Soldiers, scientists, and engineers can now be deployed for Covert Actions that award supplies and boost faction favor if successfully completed.

GREATER CUSTOMIZATION & REPLAYABILITY

Soldiers can develop bonds with compatible teammates for new abilities and perks. The SITREP system dynamically adds new modifiers to the tactical layer to make sure every mission provides a unique challenge. Advanced campaign options allow for finer adjustments to game length and difficulty.

CHALLENGE MODE

Utilize the perfect strategy in new regular one-shot community challenges to claim the top spot on the global leaderboard.

SHARE THE RESISTANCE

Customize and pose your soldiers, then add filters, text and backgrounds to generate your own unique resistance posters that appear in-game and can be shared with friends.

The Only Game with Realistic FOV

If you can't see it, is it still there? It probably is, and its about to kill you--but you can't see it until the game says! This game is frustrating in a fair way--a somewhat realistic way where you're in a battle with aliens and don't have any idea where they might be--whereas in most other games (almost all that I can recall) give the player some amount of omniscient godliness about their sights. You also cannot just shoot anything from anywhere, either. Get used to missing if you can't help but hack at the boundaries and rules like myself. This game is a worthwhile challenge for anyone who enjoys trial and error--but the exacting rules of effective combat can become too taxing. This game is thick to a point where I'm one match and done! Also, cover doesn't really work--damage through the environment is quite shaky. Going after supplies just leads to upset for me.

Fun add-on to an already good game

Pros: - The new, so called "Chosen" boss-enemies make for a nice change. - The three new soldier classes fit rather nicely both into your squad as well as into the whole setting. - The new, unique weapons do provide an extra edge in combat. - The new mission types are a nice diversion from familiar settings. - Customiziation of soldiers in terms of skills is now a lot more believable and flexible. - The resistance finally fights back and occaissionally helps you on missions. - Some aspects of the game got revamped or tweaked. - Missions load fast: No more endless waiting for the combat to begin like in the unaltered game. Cons: - The new enemy-bosses, the so called "Chosen", have only very shallow dialog and bakground stories, they are also predictable in combat and fighting them can be a bit repetative. The bosses in the "Alien Hunters"-DLC, altough it has its flaws, are much better and more believable. They are also less tacky but somehow much more fitting. - Customization options of the three new soldier classes are a bit limited: Templars just don't seem to come without kitschy pink stripes on the arms. Accept it! - The gameplay is so bogged down by all sorts of cutscenes, alerts, intersticials, messages, reminders, pop-ups, urgent requests and the like that you will forget what you were actually planning to do. - Quite a frew bugs remain unfixed. To name the worst: Firstly, the mouse-pointer will still snap unpredictibly to an invisible grid during combat missions, which will cause you to miss-click when aiming grenades or ordering your sldiers to go somewhere. This will more often than not cause deaths among your soldiers or even result in a failed mission, making iron-man-mode a gamble. Secondly, it will still be very much possible for enemies to spot you although the game clearly tells you that they can not beforehand, again causing terrible mission-fails that can hardly be prevented.

Alien Nemesis

It's like the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor, except there's only 3 orcs- I mean alien heroes to hunt you across the globe. Eventually you can hunt them, permanently defeating them. I liked the sniper chosen the best, he's the least frustrating to fight and has the best personality of the three. You also recruit a unique hero unit called Pratal Mox, and he kinda looks, and sounds like Robocop. I call him Robert Cop. Much like the Enemy Within expansion for Enemy Unknown, the expansion isn't it's own separate campaign, but is integrated seamlessly into the main campaign. Which is great if it's your first time playing, but might get slightly tedious at times if it's a subsequent playthrough. It also adds new maps, enemies, 3 new XCOM soldier classes, unique XCOM soldiers, and other stuff.

An Excellent XCom2 Replay

WOTC is in many ways just an XCOM2 re-play. I does have some added features. If you liked XCOM 2 you will like WOTC. But it's probaly a good idea to put some time between them and not play them back to back.

EVEN MORE FUN!!!

When I started playing this game the hours passed before my eyes. I started playing it on an Friday night and decided to finish my run after 22 hours straight of pure gaming, totally unaware of anything outside this amazing, hooking experience. This DLC adds so much to the game... It really makes it an even more enjoyable piece of entertainment than it already was without it. 11/10.
