XCOM 2 is the sequel to XCOM: Enemy Unknown, the 2012 award-winning strategy game of the year.
Earth has changed. Twenty years have passed since world leaders offered an unconditional surrender to alien forces. XCOM, the planet’s last line of defense, was left decimated and scattered. Now, in XCOM 2, the aliens rule Earth, building shining cities that promise a brilliant future for humanity on the surface, while concealing a sinister agenda and eliminating all who dissent from their new order.
Only those who live at the edges of the world have a margin of freedom. Here, a force gathers once again to stand up for humanity. Always on the run, and facing impossible odds, the remnant XCOM forces must find a way to ignite a global resistance, and eliminate the alien threat once and for all.
XCOM ON THE RUN: Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted to XCOM’s mobile headquarters. New open-ended gameplay lets you decide where to guide your strike team, how to grow popular support, and when to combat enemy counter-operations.
RECRUIT RESISTANCE FIGHTERS: Five soldier classes, each with its own skill tree, let you create specific soldiers for your tactical plan.
TACTICAL GUERRILLA COMBAT: New gameplay systems offer more tactical flexibility in combat. Use concealment to ambush enemy patrols. Loot enemies for precious gear and artifacts. Rescue VIPs and save fallen comrades by carrying them to the extraction point.
A NEW BREED OF ENEMY: A diverse cast of enemies from powerful new alien species to the ADVENT, enforcers of the alien regime, offer a distinct tactical challenge.
RESEARCH, DEVELOP AND UPGRADE: Configure and build rooms on the Avenger to give XCOM new capabilities on the battlefield. Use your Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor to fit your preferred tactics.
EACH MISSION IS A UNIQUE CHALLENGE: Go on missions around the world, from wildlands to the heart of the alien-controlled megacities, to the depths of alien installations. There are virtually infinite combinations of maps, missions and goals.
Spent 7 hours trying to get the game to run properly. Only could play the first tutorial mission because the game wouldn't save. Did all of the required folder adding and it still would not load a saved game or keep one after I saved and shut down. I have been using computers for gaming going on 30 years and this is one of the worst , buggy, glitchy messes I have ever seen. Avoid like the plague.
The Galaxy installer doesnt install microsoft visual studio 2013 run time in the DLL hell that still exists, that makes it not beer friendly installer for a game take cost alot if not on sales, games shouldnt be tested on dev machines before packing. ABout the game well its about UFOs getting bored at their home planet and being Villans of the Realm and piss of gamers or something.
I remember when Xcom 1 was on the way from this company, I had high hopes and was looking very much forward to it, the result was an abomination.
I tried playing it but gave up quickly since this game had been simplified and you could play it on autopilot, you could basically go through it by pressing enter repeatedly.
So when Xcom 2 was released I was hoping it was an upgrade and would be playable but sadly it is worse than the abomination that was Xcom 1, the storyline is shit and the gameplay is worse.
There is no strategy involved in this game, there is no replayability, every play through is pretty much the same, what is up with the time constraints, when aliens are spotted suddenly it is their time to move etc. There are soo many flaws with the game play.
I am deeply saddened with how badly 2k and Firaxis have butchered this franchise.
If you like simple strategy and a ton of cutscenes then you might have fun with this. If not, then do not bother with this, if you are curious try and grab it at something like 90%+ discount like I did.
1.) Constant stuttering on high end PCs, nothing helps.
2.) Hit chances are a joke, ppl can't hit stuff that is right in front of them, while enemies shoot over the entire map with 100% hit and crit.
3.) This game was programmed by a monkey, half the stuff doesn't work properly (Overwatch not triggering, while the other guy casually moves about and shoots directly AT THE GUY OVERWATCHING). Often your guys will shoot in a completeley different direction. Was this POS even playtested?
4.) Anything less than 90% hit chance feels more like 10%.
5.) Again, hitchances are a FKING joke. Optimal range, no cover? Yeah, best I can do is 60%. Sorry, even a basically trained grunt can hit a moving target 6m away with more than 60% success rate.
TL;DR, if you think X-COM 1 had its share of bugs and BS moments, then X-COM 2 is ALL of that, minus anything that made X-COM1 playable and enjoyable. If you love watching your soldiers struggle with hitting enemies 4m away, then by all means, this is for you.
