Nostalgia

I played this game on my PS3 back in the day and i bought it also on gog few days ago for the nostalgia factor. I played the game on an Asus Strix G15(2022) Ryzen 9 6900HX, RTX 3070ti and 16 GB ram. The game run without any problem on modern hardaware, and i didn't have any crash. I played the game with a controller so the controls where smoth as butter. The visuals are ok, the look of the game is cartoonish so the graphics hold pretty well for a game from 2009, remastered in 2022. The game is a classic hack and slash, story is almost inexistent (fight betwen dark and light). The game has two endings. After you finish the game you can chose to play the game for the second time to se the second ending. Not worth it in my opinion. The only downside is that the game dosen't have achievements because the PS3 version had trophies. It's a shame and for that reason i didn't play the game for the second time because there was an trophy on PS3 where you need to see both endings and finish the game on pro difficulty. I finished the game in 8,5 hours on Hard difficulty not dying once. If you read you bestiary to see the wekness of each monster the game is a breeze even on the hardest difficulty PRO,which uncloks after you finish the game on hard. The moves are inspired from God if War, Evil May Cry and other hack and slash from that period. The power-ups are fun to use. The assest are reused:Same monsters but with different atacks, and the only thing that the player must do is to change the power-ups to which the monsters are weak, same lcoations etc. I reccomend this game to any player who likes hack and slash type of games. It's a short fun game and maybe you should buy it at discount. I paid for the game 8,5 euro and finish the game in 8.5 hours.1 euro per hour it's not a bad deal. 10/10 for me beacuse the length of the game is perfect. You don't have time to get bored by fighting the same monsters over and over again for 20+ hours like in other games.

Best Game Ever

This is the 4th time I buying this game! (I own the standard retail version, the retail Royal Bundle, a digital copy on Steam, and now the HD Gold Edition here on GOG.) I just love X-Blades! The gameplay is full of action, the music is good, the graphic is beautiful (and now even better with this version) and the heroine is cute! The Gold edition comes with all the goodies! Recommended!

Terrible game

I don't know where the 'HD' part comes from, maybe the cutscenes were upscaled, but the textures are unchanged. The game takes up 4,22 GB on my drive, 3,02 GB alone are the videos. Levels with daylight can be tough as the devs abused bloom, at times you don't see half of the screen due to it. There is a settings.blk, but you can't (as far as I can see) configure bloom on its own or disable it. The game itself is quite bad, it's a sad attempt at creating something like Devil May Cry, the gameplay consists of fighting in small arenas where you spam melee attacks until you've gathered enough mana to spam magic. Rinse and repeat a dozen times and you beat a level, there are no combos, you simply mash the the left mouse button mindlessly...wait, that is a lie, there is projectile shooting enemies, for those you spam the right mouse button to shoot your guns. Doesn't help with the repetitiveness though. Every level plays pretty much the same, enemies spawn in waves until you've either cleared a goal (kill certain enemy type) or simply killed enough enemies. Beating a/every level is rather easy. when melee enemies don't get stuck on objects like urns on their way to you, they run towards you and occasionally attack, I think that is why some flying enemies can phase through objects, they'd probably get stuck far too often. The only 'problem' is that bosses tank way too much damage or are invulnerable to certain damage types, which means you have to spam melee attacks on ads until you can unload magic attacks on the boss, do that a couple dozen times until the boss is dead. The music is so obnoxious I had to mute it. There probably is a story between clicking the mouse buttons until you've worn them out, but it is boring as all hell. I could write a couple other things about the game, but I probably should end on a more positive note. The loading times are fast and you can close the game within seconds...but you can't easily Alt+F4 out of the game. :/

Tis a good to expeirence of an era

Currently own this game on steam and so far I say regardless of which one you'll get the the same experience. The game is fun and annoying at the same time and I like it for what it is. I can feel like grind and you may need to modify game files if you want to one of the two endings if you don't want to play through the entire game twice. I would say the gameplay is simple to follow as you get to hack and slash your way through a bunch of enemies, but you will have to deal with enemies that will need to be dealt with like a puzzle in order to hurt them. Unfortunately you can only hurt standard mobs but not any special enemies (including bosses) with your swords and mashing a single button and instead use your magical powers to hurt them. I also tried to performing techniques that involve movement for a particular area where I have to avoid blades and I can't seem to do it properly consistently and end up just tanking damage by thankfully given the system to buying your health in the game's menu. The story is where you end up being a treasure hunter finding some artifact to pay your bills and causes you to fight hordes of monsters/guardians where you show them why you don't where much clothing. The story is... well... okay I guess for its time? So far I simply focus on hitting enemies, getting the combo and glade the game progression does not have a ranking to see how much time you took taking an entire army of foes that lived int he temple. On the bright side beating it the first time will grant you a harder difficulty, and some outfits that make your character look more prepared (and gorgeous with the HD upgrade DLC) before entering into the temple to steal sh*t. Just don't expect to see the outfits during cutscenes. I say when it is on a deal get it on a deal. If you want to officially own a relic of the past and say yeah I played through it get it on GOG.
