Description

You are Outlander. Once adrift upon the Ageless Sea, you now find yourself on the shores of a dying world. From the consuming darkness emerges a figure cloaked in white: the Shepherd of Wayward Souls, who burdens you with the task of hunting down the remaining Guardians of the Old World. You must journey into the vast gloom to explore ancient ruins, discover forgotten secrets and battle the horrors that lurk within.

Equipped with weapons of exceptional might and an inventory of powerful artifacts, you must traverse ancient crypts, sunken ruins, corrupted temples and howling forests to bring death to your enemies. But do not underestimate your adversaries, for they are great in power and number. Your mind must be as sharp as your blade if you hope to survive the dangers ahead.

Fueled by legendary Quake 1 technology, the veins of WRATH pump with the DNA of revered '90s shooters. The world of WRATH is rich with engaging combat, diverse environments and captivating lore. Every element is deftly intertwined to create an authentic and enchanting experience as timeless as the games that inspired it.

Pretty dope but far from perfect

Pros: 1) very cool rework of the engine, physics feels great and lively. This take on particles system playing 'retro' is very cool. Just very right proportion of modern flicks with old-school basics. 2) Sound design is flawless, guns and monsters and and music and ambient and everything - all sounds very catchy and atmospheric 3) Levels design is beautiful, arenas are great for fighting in both open spaces and close quarters. Cons: 1) freaking AI. Honestly, even in Doom 30 ears ago monsters were more clever. I mean come on, this is just embarrassing! Most of the time they just stand still and fire at you or trying to get to you and stuck at the corner or some minor obstacle. This pretty much ruins the gameplay, especially in close encounters. 2) Poor balance. Even at 'difficult' level - it is still only 'hard' in the very beginning. Once you get past first 15 minutes, you practically never even close to running out of ammo or health pick-ups. Artifacts just lie around for no reason, you can do just fine without them. And once again - due to monsters being slow as snails, it all becomes pretty irritating. Ion Maiden from same team feels much more thrilling and exiting. If that was a full release, I would only give it 3 stars tops. But of course due to it being a very early version, I truly believe developers will have enough time to fix the dynamics, cause this thing has imense potential! I won't even be upset to wait for 2 more years just to see this thing done right, cause given the Dusk and Amid Evil at the market, the bar is pretty high!

Roadmap incomplete...loading progress...

just bought it and played it so, the game promises but of course there is much to do... Ii'll point it out ( my point of view): - where is the intro, story, something that makes me justify the playthrough? - menu option to switch always run on and off, always running difficults the shooting and strafing. - level landmarks with story plot points so there is the feel of progression - some enemies get stuck in walls and some tombstones - no bosses so far...but when they come, give them a purpose in the world - level paralel events like duke nukem or ion fury so it feel like a live world. - the shotgun main fire reload could be a bit faster - the cist gun main fire could be continuous firing instead of one shot - some parts of he levels are very dark even with the brightness cranked up - for such a big levels there should be more secrets, easter eggs and such. - this game oozes ambience so you have a golden shot to make it memorable - artifacts are a good idea bur are lacking imagination, make them more otherworldly powers, the tactics that you imply with this addition are almost worthless in a shooter like quake so thats why i say some could be more like rare magical powers rather than tactical temporary upgrades. i found myself not using at all the artifacts - where is the double jump or the ability to jump over some fences or walls, waiting for the blade to charge so i can jump further or higher is a drag so i rather not use it at all - double wielding or secondary weapon?? the taste you gave us with ion fury shows that you can do much much more with this one. i chose this one over doom eternal because i just love the simplicity of this engine mixed with modern gameplay elements, the otherworldly feeling like cthulhu meets tim burton overall it's just more fun and that why i use my time writting this to you and hope it comes out another classic.

Great Quakelike w divisive save system

Good action and level design. The save system will be a point of contention for many. I found it annoying, but also recognize it added a challege I don't always get from boomer shooters.

Meh

i refunded it. First level had weird annoying sword-jump thing which rmended me of the horrible platformy stuff from recent Doom. Didn't like the stupid save crystal mechanic.Just let me save when I like developers... Might have got better later but refunded as didn't bode well. This should be right up my steeet - love stuff like Ion Fury / Amid Evil and playing Q1/s with RTX - this pales in comparison.

Decent, but flawed

This is a decent throwback shooter, especially since it manages not to go down the route of "boomer shooters" which only consist of arenas chained together - or rather, it doesn't do this too often. However, at some point in time the devs decided to add a save token system, to "increase the challenge". When people complained, they basicly said "get gud". The problem is, this is not the right game for save tokens. It's supposed to be a classic quake-style shooter and it does this part very well. Games like this didn't have save tokens for good reasons. If you cranck the difficulty up to the point where it's really fun, you can die around every corner. You may be forced to run around with 2 health points for some minutes. In the end I modded the game to allow quicksaves and it's much mor fun that way. Still, it feels a bit monotonous after a while.
