A Well-Made Nod to Quake's roots
The move away from the dark, gothic vibes in Quake II left me wanting for that old style back. While Quake II itself is a good game, the aesthetic and soundtrack of the first game are incredibly memorable even after twenty years. WRATH fills that void left by id Software and adds a bit of hellish flavor to the mix. The secondary fire modes of many weapons spice up the gameplay significantly during tense moments. It doesn't become another mindless boomer-shooter. The added layer of tactical items that can influence certain powers, monsters, or projectiles definitely gives it an edge. Gone are the days of shades of brown and more vibrant colors are expressed in this modified Quake engine game. The level design makes you feel that the developers cared about immersing the player in the world, and it shows during the heavier fights, so be careful not to fall or end up backed to a corner! If you're like me who knows that save-scumming can influence risk-reward behavior, WRATH gives you a limited amount of saves depending on how much "skulls" you've acquired. If not, you might find it frustrating trying to hoard these skulls just for you to restart to the beginning of the level. The Linux version works great and installed automatically with Lutris without any modifications. Pick it up!

WRATH FO OUTTA 5 FO SHO
Good boomer shooter cool guns and powers to use. It can provide a decent challenge. I think the save system is a bit weird but I am having fun.

One of the greatest shooters of all time
First and foremost, this game is not for little babies, it doesn't care about your feelings and will test your confidence. The game will give you everything you need, but wont hold your hand. You need to consider that every change to the world stays as is, you break a pot, it stays broken, you leave a health or ammo pick-up behind, it will stay there, even if you leave the level and come back. You need to conisder everything, your saves are an item, so you need to use them tactically, as well as the one time use save stations which re-fill your health. Dont just charge into every room, and on top of conisdering all of these things, the game also demands a high level of skill and will not let you get cocky. I played on hard first play, which is quite challenging, but I'm assuming normal won't be a cake walk either. If you have what it takes, you will find an extremely fun chunky shooter, oozing with atmosphere and lore. This is by far one of, if not, the most impressive use's of the quake engine I have ever seen, this game is beautiful, with incredibly interconnected level design which have a great sense of depth and verticality to them. The weak will find no pleasure here, however, fortune and glory favors the brave.

Awesome and worth the price of admission
Insert obligatory Quake reference here. Seriously though, the level design is really well done. the enemies are amazing. i love the flying hell heads. the weapons are really fun to use. and the item system is really well done. The game is very dark. i had to jack up the brightness on my tv to see anything, but other than that it feels really good. the enimies are super cheap but not in a bad way. just they way they are programed. projectiles are very fast and the green ooze guys explode like a grenade damaging you if you get close. i give it 4 stars only becausee it's not finished yet. but the polish is already showing even with the early release. it's worth it to pick up at full price if you are into supporting games like this. i hope they get a killer sound track like Quake 1 or The Title song to project warlock.
