Includes the original World In Conflict plus the expansion World In Conflict: Soviet Assault
World War III rages and a Soviet-led army has launched a surprise attack on the U.S.A. Command your troops into fast-paced battles fought on a fully destructible battle-field. Strategy meets intense action in this epic clash of Super Powers!
The AWARD-WINNING WORLD IN CONFLICT® showed us what it would’ve been like if the Cold War erupted into World War III. In the original, you'll play for the U.S. and defend your native soil against an invading Russian army. With the expansion you can go on the attack as you take control of the Soviet army in an attempt to paint the free world red. Award-winning original plus epic expansion – this complete edition will immerse you in an all-out battle for the heart of the free world.
Chillingly plausible single-player campaign with frontlines based on real-life towns, suburbs and cities in America, Europe and the USSR.
Attain full command of four different roles – Air, Armor, Infantry & Support – in the ultimate team-based multiplayer experience.
Level an entire battlefield with powerful artillery barrages, scorching napalm strikes, and devastating tactical nukes.
The Soviet Assault expansion features 6 new single missions, a bevy of new weapons, and even more explosive World War III action.
The perfect RTS for anyone who just wants to jump in without learning hundreds of mechanics and controls. There is zero base building (always a plus in my book), and very well balanced difficulty. I played the game on normal and at no point did I feel the game was too easy, nor did I feel it was too hard. Above all, the game has got some of the most impressive and satisfying explosions I've seen in an RTS. If you like watching things get blown to smithereens, this game is for you.
Yes you have to type in a cd-key. But just use one from the internet.
You can play with computers and your buddies on LAN(even with the same key!!)
I like the fact you can concentrate on tactics instead of building factories, baracks etc. Normale you play 3-5 maps in a row. Because one match takes about 20-30 minutes.
Great graphics, great gameplay. Would like to see a sequel!
I only played the first few levels of this before abandoning. It is not what I was expecting at all - calling this a strategy game isn't accurate, there is no strategy or even decision making, the game tells you explicitly at all times what to do. This is not the kind of game where you are given an objective and it's up to you to achieve it how you see fit - it is instead heavily scripted, the game frequently takes control away from you, giving you units or taking them away, and telling you exactly what to do with them.
A cutscene will play and a voice over will tell you to move your units to a big glowing circle. So you do that, kill a few enemies, and another cutscene will play telling you to move to the next glowing circle. This happens continuously, sometimes there is only a few seconds between cutscenes. Every time this happens the game takes control of the camera and moves it around. It then snaps back when the cutscene ends leaving you disoriented. To make matters worse the maximum zoom of the camera is extremely low to the ground, you can not zoom out far enough to get a good overview. I'm guessing they did this to try to make it look more "cinematic".
That's really what this game wants to be, a war movie. So if you like strategy games I would say stay far away from this. However if you like B grade war movies with some minimal gameplay interaction then you might enjoy this game.
I had fun with the game in the year 2007 and I haven't gotten the addon to play as the Soviets until now. No bases to build or resources to gather, just pick your units and go which was a big plus. It does blow Command and Conquer 3 out of the water. The graphics were really good ahead of its time and looks well polished and visuals are good. Missions can be challenging and its by player error and not the developers. I recommend this game. No bases to build or resources to gather and just selecting your units as you go was a good idea.
