*Sigh* Too short, Pining for a sequel
War siming at its finest. I think on some computers there are a bit of bugs that the folks on GOG need to look at but Its awesome. PS You need to get the expansion pack soviet invasion to totally appreciate this marvelous work! There are no bad guys. You play both sides of the conflict at any given time! You play as Russia, as America and Nato. Its WW3 at its finest. Not even Red Dawn (both versions), Red Storm rising or Red Orchestra come close to capturing the intensity of what might have been... On a side note I should note that tacicians on both sides agree, its not likely that Russia would invade America. The war would've been fought in Europe and China would've played both sides.

Explosions? Explosions
The perfect RTS for anyone who just wants to jump in without learning hundreds of mechanics and controls. There is zero base building (always a plus in my book), and very well balanced difficulty. I played the game on normal and at no point did I feel the game was too easy, nor did I feel it was too hard. Above all, the game has got some of the most impressive and satisfying explosions I've seen in an RTS. If you like watching things get blown to smithereens, this game is for you.

YES it works! Great!
Yes you have to type in a cd-key. But just use one from the internet. You can play with computers and your buddies on LAN(even with the same key!!) I like the fact you can concentrate on tactics instead of building factories, baracks etc. Normale you play 3-5 maps in a row. Because one match takes about 20-30 minutes. Great graphics, great gameplay. Would like to see a sequel!

Cutscene simulator
I only played the first few levels of this before abandoning. It is not what I was expecting at all - calling this a strategy game isn't accurate, there is no strategy or even decision making, the game tells you explicitly at all times what to do. This is not the kind of game where you are given an objective and it's up to you to achieve it how you see fit - it is instead heavily scripted, the game frequently takes control away from you, giving you units or taking them away, and telling you exactly what to do with them. A cutscene will play and a voice over will tell you to move your units to a big glowing circle. So you do that, kill a few enemies, and another cutscene will play telling you to move to the next glowing circle. This happens continuously, sometimes there is only a few seconds between cutscenes. Every time this happens the game takes control of the camera and moves it around. It then snaps back when the cutscene ends leaving you disoriented. To make matters worse the maximum zoom of the camera is extremely low to the ground, you can not zoom out far enough to get a good overview. I'm guessing they did this to try to make it look more "cinematic". That's really what this game wants to be, a war movie. So if you like strategy games I would say stay far away from this. However if you like B grade war movies with some minimal gameplay interaction then you might enjoy this game.
