This was not a good idea.

I just want to add to the warning(got this on steam) for anyone thinking about it. The New Order is fine(if you are not squemish). This one is....like some previously said, all over the place. We all know Wolfenstein as the mother of the fps explosion. Remember this? GET PSYCHED! Now: GET DEPRESSED! The story feels like a horrible tele novela at its worst and just an unbelievable downer the rest of the time. You really, really start to regrett the cutscenes and in game dia/monolgues from taking place. And for a game that is trying to play against the racism card, it sure has a LOT of awful, cringy stereotyping in it(And I am not talking about the nazis). Level design is just incredibly, incredibly bland, narrow(!), boring. Horrible. Yes the end is...I guess they just needed it to end. Now imagine this, all this and read the reviews for the sequal to this, "Youngblood" and realize that SOMETHING went fully off the rails in this development studio. Machine games. Like the decision makers where all high on sniffing their own farts or something...THANK GOD I got it for almost nothing during a sale or I would have been SOOOOOOOO pissed off!

I didn't finish this...

Technically it is really good. Runs fine on my WinDeck with a FHD monitor. But the story and level design is lame.

A step down, but it still has some charm

To quickly dispel the myth that this game somehow has a "deep" and "amazing" story on par with The New Order: it's a cesspit of toilet humor and heavy-handed preaching, eschewing even basic believability in favor of "inspirational" messages like "fat positivity" or... pregnant women can fight giant robots? It's a sixth grade book report on Quentin Tortellini that didn't even bother to spell his name right. It doesn't understand the style it's trying to ape, and misses the entire point of the original. The Nazis no longer feel like a credible threat, despite them taking over the goddamn world in the last game, and the protagonists no longer have a shred of depth or likability. If you're planning on playing this for the story, *don't.* You will be dreadfully disappointed. But this is a video game, so... how's the gameplay? Your mileage may vary. If you're planning on playing the console version, *don't.* If you have a good PC, but you're thinking about playing with a controller, *don't.* The combat is tuned entirely for keyboard and mouse. No amount of aim assist will save you from the game's *extremely* low time-to-kill and lightning fast enemies. Stealth, too, is absurdly overtuned, allowing enemies to see you through walls, and having some enemies that just can't be killed quietly. This isn't to say *everything* is stacked against the player. There are early game upgrades that allow you to completely shred through even the tankiest enemies, but this goes both ways. The average player will need the speed and precision of mouse and keyboard, and there just isn't any getting around that. If you play by the rules, you certainly *can* have fun here, especially if you like save-scumming, but it still never rises to the highs of its predecessors.

Amazing

I had so much fun with this game. I have not played the first part though. A lot of review compare it to the original one. I had a blast. Totally worth the money I paid. Guns are punchy, the combat is excellent and dynamic. I like how each level can be approached with multiple strategies. Amazing.

Worse story and better gameplay than TNO

TNO is one of my favorite shooters out there. While it's gameplay was sometimes frustrating, the story was incredibly well done. It did something no other Wofenstein game dared to do, and actually touched upon the crimes against humanity committed by the Nazi's. It was no Schindler's List, but it was able to provoke powerful emotions from the player when it needed to. Likely due to the success of DOOM, TNC took a more action-oriented approach than TNO. As a result, the story was a lot less powerful, and many of the characters showed little to no development. TNC still has some powerful moments in it, but the narrative is a big step down from TNO. The gameplay however, is much enjoyable as well. The combat's more fast-paced, and the arsenal feels more satisfying to use. Can't guarantee that you'd like this one if you liked TNO,as it's a pretty divisive sequel, but I would say it's worth giving it a shot.
