Description
An old-school challenge in a crisp and colorful package, Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls revitalizes the time-honored formula of the original dungeon crawler series with modernized visuals and sound.

Choose each of your six team members’ class, race, gender, and moral alignment, then delve into one of several dungeons near the central town hub. Advance with caution — monsters are vicious, deadly, and attack in packs. Plan each expedition carefully, stay focused on your objectives, and know when to retreat to the surface.

In between expeditions, chat with the locals, pick up new quests, pray for guidance at the temple, go bargain-hunting for new/rare equipment, and more. With patience, skill, and careful planning, your party will rise from a gang of paupers to a mighty force.
The magic torches are lit, the monsters are ravenous, and the kingdom is waiting for a new hero. Enter the world of Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls and experience a classic adventure reborn.

KEY FEATURES

Your Party, Your Way
Choose from eight classes and five races to build a six-person team with diverse but complimentary skill sets. Change their classes in mid-adventure to fit your needs, or focus on leveling up their primary class to earn bonus skills for the party’s benefit.

So Beautiful and So Dangerous
Tangle with a menagerie of over 100 distinctive monsters, from the traditional to the bizarre, all drawn by famed series illustrator Jun Suemi. The game also features character illustrations by renowned commercial artist Yuki Hayabusa.

Conquer the Dungeons
Every step through the underworld is fraught with danger, and one wrong move can end your adventure. But if you have the grit to withstand what the dungeons throw at you, both you and your party will gain enough experience to stroll through them like you own them.

Wizardry’s Rebirth on PC
The PC remaster of this classic originally released for PlayStation 3 features English and Japanese text with the original Japanese voiceovers, high-resolution graphics, and a brand new Turbo Mode to make exploring the game’s massive dungeons a breeze. All story DLC is included, and players can download the Growth Fruit DLC for free to give themselves a boost when creating characters.

Fantastic game

Very happy I decided to pick up this one and also sad to read some of the reviews here, I feel like the game has been misjudged by some people: This is an excellent dungeon crawler, inspired by the old Wizardry titles and thus very raw in essence. It's not comfortable to play and it won't hold your hand. Take your time learning about the classes and building your party as information is very sparse. Besides that, my experience with Labyrinth of Lost Souls has been fantastic and if you like exploring catacombs and slaughtering hordes of monsters I bet you are going to love it!

Well done, in spirit of the originals

I am a huge fan of the original Wizardry (1 and 2) so when this came out on PS3 I was in line to get it. Overall it did not disappoint. Yes, the window dressing is different but underneath the anime style makeover it's reminiscent of Wizardry. Well, Wizardry light at least. I like this enough I've played it through a couple times and would probably buy it for the PC from here when it goes on sale. Even with the new release of Wizardry 1 made over here on GOG (also recommend) this is still fun to play. Cons are it's a bit short in comparison, not quite as deep as the originals, and like the originals this is all about the grind. That latter bit is good or bad depending on your preference. If you like turn based RPG's you can't really go wrong with this IMO.

Classic Wizardry with an Anime flavor.

It has it's own little differences but the core experience is the pretty much the same. I love the presentation of it but it's not the most user friendly for newcomers. The UI can feel a little cumbersome/unintuitive at times. But the main experience does seem to be all there. If you are new to the series I would recommend the more recent Wizardry Proving Grounds remaster that only came out about a month ago and is also on GOG but this one is not a bad choice either, though Proving Grounds felt more user friendly. Wizardry veterans should like this well, provided that they are ok with the japanese anime aesthetic. And are prepared to use a controller, which this game seems to have been designed for.

My Favorite Wizardry and Dungeon Crawler

I have played this for at least 100 hours on the PS3 and an excited to be able to own it now on my PC. The game is a blast. I started Wizardry with the very first ones: "Proving Ground of the Mad Overlord" and "The Knight of Diamonds"; my favorite fixed character 1st-Person Dungeon Crawler is "Arcana" on the SNES (in case you're interested in my interests.) It's simple and straightforward, extremely addictive and wants you to drive forth, jouneying onward for seven or so hours at a time. I journey with a group of all Main Characters at one time so they get to know each other better; this also aids the story for me (and also raises their level for when you begin their individiual story.) The game is atmospheric, the monster designs range from creepy to beautiful, the character designs are gorgeous, the music is just right (although I do usually play another source of music or an audiobook as I play to multitask/learn while learning.) So if you enjoy classic Wizardry, classic PC games, classic RPGs, 1st Person Dungeon Crawlers, Simplicity mixed with Complexity; give this a shot.

A Great but Archaic return to the roots.

Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls is a great Dungeon-RPG that continues the legacy of the first 3 games released in the 80's, although there are minimal innovations to the formula, it provides a decent experience: This game is focused on Combat, with typical turn-based straight forward RPG with a Huge Difficulty Spike, you Attack, Defend, Cast Spells, use Item, use Class Ability and Run, There are 8 different classes the most remarkable ones are Bishop, Samurai, Lord and Ninja, each with unique abilities and magic capabilities. The Spells system is similar to DnD games, with limited number of casts and can only be recharged in the Inn. The exploration is in First Person with a Grid-like Movement, there are 3 Dungeons you can explore, you have to find a multiple Maps to make your way in a single Dungeon, there you'll find Traps, Zones that nullify magic and/or prevent you from Teleporting, Elevators and Closed Door that may require a Thief or finding a Switch. Some of the most negative points are the random mechanics, when you find a Chest the Loot is random depending the Chest Quality, when you Level Up some random Stats may Increase or Decrease. Some items are scarce or useless in the late game, other require lots of grinding, and sometimes the game is unfair. Telling a Story is clearly not a priority, the Opening Cinematic gives an interesting backstory and I felt the overall plot had potential, but it's nothing spectacular, most quest are typical fetch quests, after the Main Quest arrives they start to be slightly more interesting, I found those pretty fun. The Soundtrack by Kenji Ito is really good, when it shows up, also some some of Character Designs by Yuuki Hayabusa are pretty good, and the Monster Designs by Jun Suemi are gorgeous, that guy is a Master. The game overall is decent and fun, the greatest barrier are those mechanics inherited from it's Archaic roots. I would still recommend it for someone looking for a challenging Dungeon Crawler or RPG.
