Wing Commander™ 3 Heart of the Tiger™

This is probably the best space combat game out there. The gameplay is great, and it has an actual, captivating story (as opposed to, for instance, Tie Fighter), which is also very well executed (unlike e.g. Descent: Freescape), thanks to the excellent video scenes. There is also comic relief in the rivalry of Blair and Maniac. Be sure not to miss the finale of the Terran-Kilrathi War. Don't expect much from the planetary missions, though.

I remember the time when I decided to buy a new computer every time a new Wing Commander game was launched. The games were absolutely ahead of their time and Wing Commander 3 is, in my opinion the best of them all. I still remember many of the dialogs of the movies and I'll probably never forget them. This game has had a very deep impact on me and I'd give 10 stars if I could.

This game hails from an era when actors, granted talented actors, took their jobs in a video game more seriously than some actors treat their movie roles today. The flight model is also surprisingly player friendly yet satisfying. My advice is to watch some videos fo the game, see if you like the in-game cutscenes, and buy the game here if you do. You miss out on the point of the game if you don't like the cutscenes, but you don't get the same investment in the in-game movies if you don't play for them.

it made a mark in the history of gaming, The first ever to make you go wow! I played wing commander 1 +2 and remember staying up very late with my dad trying to get WC3 demo to run on my 66mhz pc, we didnt get far! only the best at the time could run it. about a year later my mate bought a new pentium pc with 100mhz of pure power and bought the game. I completed it on rookie but could never do it on the next harder setting. you must have this game its epic. and if you find it too easy put it on the next level..oooow not easy! Thanks GOG I was meant to be skint with a new born baby to look after! and now im back in space. Never felt better.
