Whispers of a Machine

Do you like scanning things! Do you like clicky-adventures? Doo you like cyberpunk recovering dystopia futures??! This game has it all, what a great well crafted game. Absolutely top notch!

It's a great little adventure game with a good detective story and logical puzzles. Also, the voice-acting is one of the best in any adventure game, ever. Graphics are also gorgeous (if you enjoy pixel-art), There are a some unique ideas as well with the special skills / augmentations. Alas, it's very sad that those were a bit underused. Some of the skills are only used once or twice in the entire game, which is a shame (then again, so were some of the verbs in the early point and click days...). Also, the game is a bit short - maybe 5-6h on relaxed first playthrough. Few crashes on my Mac as well (maybe 6x in total), which are no big deal due to the autosave system working pretty well. All in all a very enjoyable game that's highly recommended for fans of the point & click genre.

Often detective games can have mundane puzzles or trivial dialogues that just reheat the same tropes. This is not the case with Whispers of a Machine. Dialogues and intrigue are intelligent and interesting, main character is complex, authentic person that keeps developing throughout the game. Mechanics of your augmentations is also very pleasant and gives you sense that your decision influence the game which is always nice. I strongly recommend this game to anyone that likes point-and-clicks/adventure games or simply a good detective story!

enjoyed spending time w/this one, connected w/the moody and tragic vibe. puzzle solving was refreshingly organic and properly deductive. great score and mostly above average voicework (there's always one obligatory goofy character, lol). recommended.

A rather fun detective adventure game. And I do mean fun, it's not a hideously annoying adventure game, or pixel finder. It also has an unusual inclusion of a personality system that helps make things a bit more interesting. It's also not too long; you can finish it in a single day if you're dedicated.
